Do purebred Arabian Horses have thinner fur than American horses or do they shed the fur?

I have to have this question answered for my Biology class by 2 p.m. today. Thank you.

1. All horses (as well as cats, dogs, cows, etc) shed their coats at various times during the year. That said, purebred Arabian horses probably do have a finer coat than say a Mustang, Connemara pony, etc because of their origin. Arabians were initially raised in the desert. They were bred to be small, tough, spirited, and for endurance. If you've looked at pictures or a real Arabian you'll notice their nostrils are larger than some other breeds which enabled them to take in more oxygen while running across the desert. They are one of the oldest breeds of horses and in my opinion are the most beautiful.
2. Horses have hair. Depending on the climate, an Arabian horse will grow a substantial winter coat. If you compare an Arabian living in California, with one living in Montana, you can visibly see the difference in their winter coats.
