Are Arabian horses naturally gaited?

I have been told my horse is a anglow arabian. I do not know much about horses, though I have a few quarter horses! She is suposed to have given birth to a gaited mule when bread with a donkey in the past! I have not ridden her. would this make her naturally gaited?

1. Okay, most Arabs aren't gaited. Anglo-Arab = Thoroghbred X Arab cross. I wouldn't say she is naturally gaited unless she has some other gaited breeds back in her pedigree. The mule's sire could have been gaited, so that could be why the foal was.
2. Donkeys are not naturally gaited. Arabians are not naturally gaited. The above poster is correct, anglo-arab is a thoroughbred/arabian cross. Thoroughbreds are not naturally gaited. Someone was probably mistaken, either thinking about the wrong mare or confusing a mule with a really smooth gait with a gaited mule.
3. very few arabs are gaited. however some are. That said it is almost unheard of for a gaited arab to throw a gaited mule. I am skeptical. It happens but it is rare.

5. Arabians are not gaited and neither are thoroughbreds. Why do you own a horse and WHY are you BREEDING a horse when you "don't know much about horses"? And with a horse you haven't ridden! I think you are an irresponsible person who hasn't seen the overflow of horses and mules at the slaughter. I think you need a new hobby.
6. I agree with poster one and two. You are giving the correct info. As for the last two posters...WOW..why be so rude to this person? Uncalled for. She said she didnt know a lot about horses. She's here asking questions isn't she? How else did you or any other newbie learn? She NEVER said she bred the horse, read again, she said she was suppose to have given birth, in the past...past tense. And it could be that since she owns quarterhorses she doesnt know anything about Arabians or gaited horses. Why be so quick to judge and abuse people??? NOT NICE!!!
7. All horses are naturally gaited (walk/trot/canter...) which ones are you refering to?
8. Don't believe everything you hear. An Arabian is not a naturally gaited breed so to claim that she threw a gaited mule is probably not accurate. Gaited breeds include Tennessee Walking Horses and Paso Finos and breeding donkeys to these breeds would more like result in a gaited mule.

10. No, an Anglo-Arab will almost NEVER be naturally gaited. Does she show any propensity to gaiting either under saddle or at liberty? I would think that genetically it's more likely to have come from the donkey's side
11. A pure breed arab is NOT gaited. A half arab can be gaited if they are out of a gaited horse breed. A donkey is not gaited. Mule can be gaited depending on the horse/donkey cross. Mules cannot reproduce the are the direct result of a horse donkey cross. And to the two rude ones...grow up and grow some manners.
