Are Arabian horses good for two beginners?

hi, me and my sister are looking to buy a horse in the near future and we have never done this before. We have herd alot about Arabians and think we like them. The only thing is that i read that they connect and get attached to one person. Are they not good for two riders, and if not then what do you suggest? Thanks :)

  1. Just make sure the horse is not too much for you since you stated you are a beginner. It can be like giving keys to Fast car to a male teenager during light rain. The horse could dominate you and may need to be re-trained after. Not all arabians are the same though, some are good beginner horses, really it depends on their personalities and how aggressive they are. Ask the breeder questions they should be honest as most will give you your money back within a reasonable time frame.
  2. Arabians are generally pretty high strung, however like any other animal, they have their own personality, so it really depends on the horse. It depends somewhat on your riding style as well. For English a welsh pony or wesh mix is usually a good starter.
  3. I have an arabian and i have had him since he was about 4 yrs old, he is now going on 18, but still has all the spunk he had when i fisrt got hiim, i wouldnt recomend a arabian for a beginner. But other than that i love him to death, he has been a very good friend. could just hop on him and go, unlike my QH that i have to watch cause he has split personality
  4. I own an arabian and she's not so attached to just one of us. she's really friendly. a horse in general is a big responsibility. I would recommend reading Storey's Guide to Raising Horses. I would also look into quarter horses. All horses are like dogs, there are a few traits thats going to be there because of the breed, other parts of the traits are due solely to personality and time spent.
  5. It's not the breed as much as the fit between you and the horse that is important. You and your sister need a horse that fits your ability level. If you are both beginners, you need a horse that is well brok and knows what it is doing. If you share in the responsiblities and spend time with the horse, regardless of breed, it will bond with you both.
  6. I say go check this horse out. What you have to think about when buying a horse for beginners is: 1. Is the horse well trained? 2. Can the rider(s) handle the horse on their own? 3. Is he friendly? 4. Is he vice-free? 5. Does he have good ground manners? Then think about the horse. Any horse, not necessarily the breed, can get attachted to only one person, that's just the individual horse. But alot of times, beginner horses like all kinds of people, since they are generally used as schooling horses where lots of kids ride them. Hope this helps!!
  7. Arabian horses are the most beautifull, smart, strong, and expressive ... Stallions are a bit too tough to handle for a starter, so get a mare and I would even advice more on an older mare (like 9 years or above). At this age the mare tends to be very calm and caring. I am sure you will be hooked on arabians once you get a nice arabian mare. Good luck.
