Is it true that there are "wild" horses in Nevada?

If there are, I might want to go see them some day. It has always been my dream that I would be able to see wild horses.

  3. Yup and Wy and ND and SD and MT ....... probably more, but thats my geographical area. I'm lucky to do good with those lol.
  4. Yes there are!! There are also some in Montana witch is were i LIVE!!!
  5. & the Bureau of Land Management rounds them up periodically & sells them all over the country. many end up as show horses. if you see a horse with white letters tattood on its neck - that is a mustang
  6. Yeah, and some other states in the 'west'. Wyoming I believe has a bunch. Colorado I think? Some others too. Google Mustangs, you'll probably be able to find a list of the states they're still free in. They aren't technically wild though, they're feral. There are no true wild horses in America, or much of anywhere else for that matter. EDIT: Two thumbs down. Oh I'm sorry, did I insult your wild ponies by calling them feral? Well they are, they aren't even close to true wild horses.
  7. there are very few, and it is rare to see them but yes there are wild horses in Nevada.

  10. there are, but they are rare to find. i've seen them up in the mountains at Mount Charleston before. lots of wild burros too.
  11. I live in Washington and we have wild horses in eastern, Wa also in Idaho, Oregon, Colorado, Nevada, Wyoming, Montana, Texas and some parts of California. I have seen the herd here in Wa. They have a wild horse monument in Ellensburg, WA.
  12. There are wild horses scattered throughout the west. Problematic bands are routinely rounded up and sold by the BLM and are Mustangs that you can adopt. I personally used to ride up in the foothills near Golden Colorado amongst a band of very wild ponies. I hope you can fulfill your dream someday!
  13. yes, but they are rounding them up along with all of the wild burrows.
  14. Yes there are, but not sure if you can actually see them in the wild, dont know where you would go. Bureau of Land Management does periodic round ups to prevent the mustang population from getting too big and they adopt out the wild mustangs. There are also wild burros too that run wild in Nevada. The prison in Susanville allows the inmates to train some of the mustangs, then people can adopt broke to ride mustangs from there. Go to www.wildhorseandburro.blm.gov to learn more about the mustangs and burros
