- go to http://www.beechwoodbengals.com/. also, for more breeders, search on google
- I starred your question for a friend of mine who has a lovely Bengal adopted from a shelter. Check with rescues first to see who's available. It's always better if you can save a life. The breeder's cats will live regardless. Shelter cats aren't so lucky sometimes. Purebred cats die right alongside the mutts every day. Here are some Bengals at shelters near you. http://www.petfinder.com/search/search.cgi?pet.Animal=Cat&pet.Breed=bengal&pet.Age=baby&pet.Size=&pet.Sex=&location=46304 If you're up for a road trip, lookie who I found! They may be able to make some transport arrangements. http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=11146769
- I couldn't Find any breeders in Indiana. But you said that you live in the north-west part of Indiana....so I assume you live close to illinois. I Found two Breeders that ship but are located in illinois here's their website's http://www.chivalrycattery.com/ http://www.villagecattery.com/ Here's where I got the information from http://www.breedlist.com/breeders/ben.html#Illinois :3 good luck^^
- It's not easy to just get a bengal tiger from anywhere legally. I'm pretty sure that you have to have a special wildlife license to own one. plus, they ARE endangered, they're really hard and expensive to get. People have to look at your house, know your history, and have you sign a bunch of things to own one. My suggestion: just get I brown tabby cat. There are some domestic house cats that look EXACTLY like miniature tigers and they're easier to take care of by far. I mean are you really prepared to train, and keep a tiger? what happens when it gets big? What would you feed it? What if you go away for vacation? What do you do with the tiger? You can't leave it alone? What about house guests? I sure as heck wouldn't want to come over to a house with a tiger, even if it's in a cage. Plus, I really don't think it's right to domesticate an endangered wild animal that needs space, and probably needs to breed.
- go on the net. type in Bengal kittens and you will get loads of site's just go through them and you will find what you are looking for good luck as they are very expensive to buy a lot more than you think
- Oh the kitten that Pretty Kitty linked to you is just simply ADORABLE! I hope you can manage the trip to get that one! As for my answer - I agree with the others. You can get a lovely purebred bengal kitty from a shelter! You'll know they're healthy and have had all their healthcare then, and you'll get hell of alot more help and support getting the kitty from a shelter! Go for it! Save a life! Shelter kitties are just as good as kitties from breeders!
- I hope you've done LOTS of research before you buy a Bengal. They're beautiful cats, but a lot of people don't know what they're getting into when they buy an exotic cat. Unfortunately, there are a lot of Bengals who end up at an animal shelter because the owners wanted an orniment and didn't realize what a handful these cats can be. Bengals make wonderful pets, but only when you match them with the right type of household, and the right type of owner personality... Before you go to a breeder for your Bengal, look first online at Bengal Rescue: http://www.bengalrescuenetwork.org/ or www.petfinder.com You can find Bengals there for a fraction of the price - and they make just as good a pet. Plus, you'll save them from the gas chamber! Hope this helps. Good luck!
- <<<----So! you want a Bengal? : ) While the shelter is a terrific place to get a Bengal, you do have to be careful because sometimes those kittens are not really bengals. Sometimes they are. I actually rescued my Fourth Generation Purebred papered Bengal from a private party, not a shelter. Sometimes if a tabby cat has some spots, they will call it a Bengal. Sometimes, these spotted kitties have "rosette" spots and really are bengal. Bengals do not have marking such as a white bib (tuxedo) or white socks. If you go to my profile and click on Leopolds link, there are some better pictures of him. He originally came from the breeder Enchanted Tails in California. Here's the link if you want to contact them. They have AMAZING cats! http://www.enchanted-tails.com/ You gotta see these! Leopolds father was a beautiful Champion named Draco and his mother was a 3rd generation marbled named Tantra. Gorgeous cats! Here's what you can expect: 1. EXTREME INTELIGENCE. They get into things you'd have to TEACH a dog to do. If they see you open something like a butter or cottage cheese or yoghurt container, don't leave it out. Your Bengal will open it. I have a large plastic pretzel jar that is now a terrarium with the same type of lid. He opened it, I saw him! They figure things out. He can unscrew the lid to his catfood container and help himself. I have to make sure I really put that lid on tight. He can open a door, so I have to keep the front door deadbolted in case he wants to open it. We have to put his favorite toy away at night or he'll be bringing it to us ALL night long. We put it in the nightstand drawer. One morning, he was told to get his toy himself, so he went up on hind legs, put front paws on the top of the drawer, shifted weight, opened the drawer. Jumped up, took the toy out and put it beside my husband in the bed who of course was now obligated to play with him. Don't underestimate the intelligence of your Bengal. They KNOW what your saying... 2. Extreme activity. Unlike many cats, kitten hood does NOT completely wear off. These are very active cats and need plenty PLENTY to jump on, climb on, scratch on, play on, etc. They are great acrobats. Leopold can do twists, turns and somersalts in the air. He's three years old and going strong. 3. some may have digestive issues or heart murmers. Mine has both, but he's fine. They are pretty healthy active cats otherwise, and a pure joy. 4. If you have another cat, the Bengal is usually dominant 5. They can be VERY sweet, loving and soft lapcats. 6. They can be VERY vocal. Not necessarily the loud meowling kind, although, he does pick the most accoustically friendly room and let out the longest lowest most primal meow you've ever heard, I think he likes to hear himself sing. Mostly he just walks in with a constant barrage of little Brrrrr, BBBrrrrr, Brrrow. BBBBBbbbbrrr. It's really cute. 7. You pay that much for a cat, he's an indoor cat. PERIOD. He'll live longer and be healthier as in indoor cat. 8. Get him neutered or her spayed. No choice, just do it. The breeder may require it. My Leopold does not care to be held, but he'll jump up in my lap and purr and roll around and go to sleep. I find him cuddled up by me when I wake up. (next to the other two) I love that little guy. He's extremelly friendly with everyone who comes to the door. Most cats run away. he brings them his toy. He'll stand up on his hind legs and tap me on the shoulder while I'm sitting at the computer and I'll look at him and he'll say "brrrrrr" and show me the toy he just brought in. SMART CAT these Bengals. Leopold LOVES dogs! Now that you have a little insite from His Highness, The Cat, let me know which Bengal you choose and send a picture. e-mail me when you get one and I'll give you an address to e-mail to. This is all very exciting! I'm going to get a German Shepherd soon. I've been checking with the shelters for one. He'll turn up eventually! Good Luck! P.S. There are also several Bengal rescues "Groups" on yahoo. I belong to two, but I rarely visit anymore. One is Bengals2, which is a site for us owners and the other is bengalrescue, I think. Many are breeders and can help. Again, Good luck!
