How many animals have been saved thanks to volunteers at shelters?

I need 2 know around how many animals have been saved. Even if you only know a certain type of animal or at a certain shelter ao at a certain state that's fine, please post your source!

1. I don't think you can actually count the individuals that volunteer time and money to save animals. I volunteer at a huge SPCA and the volunteers fill and entire filing cabinet.
