Does anyone know what the fine is for your dog not having his rabies vaccination in Fort Worth?

I recently found a dog and brought her home because she was in bad shape. I had not had a chanceto take her to get her shots and rabies vaccine when she got out and killed the neighbors cat. They called animal control and I got three tickets one for her not having her rabies shot, the other for her not being licensed with the city and the third for her running at large. Does anyone know how much these fines are so that I begin saving the money.

  1. My dog got a ticket for the rabies vaccination in Fort Worth a couple years ago. Because it was my first, they told me I had 10 days to get the shot and fax them proof, and the ticket would be voided. I did so, and they cancelled the ticket. You should see if they will allow you do this for the rabies shot and the city license. However, they probably won't cancel the running at large ticket. Go to the city of Fort Worth website, and they should have information there (probably under the Town Lake Animal Center links).
  2. It would be best to contact your city to speak to someone and find out exactly how much it will be.
  3. If you have had the dog for less than 3 weeks, it is not legally yours. so, you need to call and tell them that you only took in a stray, and that you hadn't even had time to get her the leash, collar, and vet check. Unless the neighbor knows differently, you should tell them that you had just brought her home the day before. that way she is still considered a stray, and no one is responsible for her care yet. it would also help if you contacted all local shelters to ask if she has been reported missing..so it will be one record that she is, indeed a stray. First call Town and Country Shelter Rescue Ft. Worth, Tx., 76163 Phone/Fax: 817-297-6290 Tell them of your problem of rescuing this dog, and they may even be able to help you get the shots and tags.
