Will a Maine Coon cat be ok with my current kitten?

I have a 5 month old kitten, and am thinking of getting a Maine Coon kitten soon; they are both males. Will they be compatible? THANKS!

  1. The same thing with me i dont think 2 males will be compatable they might for awhile but when your kitten gets a little older they will fight ALOT
  2. Hì Bromey. On a pet show once, i heard the presenter say that maine coons are 'gentle giants'. 'Giants' because they grow up to be generally larger than the average cat and 'gentle' on account of their gentle nature. That said, i don't think that the two will have problems getting along. While they are still kittens, try and have them in each others company as much as possible. This way, they will accept and get used to the idea of living together. If they can't get along and fight all the time, then you should separate them and have separate living quaters for each. This means having completely separate areas for each cat's sleeping, eating etc. Worst case scenario, if they turn out to be a handful, then you may want to consider giving one away... 3. maine coons are similar in size and nature to that of norwegian forest cats. my male actually slept with my queens kittens while she was in hospital and also allowed them to suckle him. i don't think you would have any problems with having a male kitten with your resident kitten so long as you get them fixed it seems to stop them having turf wars. maines are very gentle giants and get along with ohter cats ad kittens easily
  4. Maine Coons are known as gentle giants, but they have a very dominant personality. It is a big eye opener if you have never owned one before. They are extrememly smart and usually run a household. Getting one as a kitten is the best idea, Males get along best with other males. I love the breed and would love to own one again. It was like having a small dog. Good luck!
