Do Maine Coon Cats mature slower than other cats?

I have heard that Maine Coon Cats mature much lower than other cats. My kitten is 8 months and has never came into heat so is it true? Does anyone happen to know the average life cycle of a Maine?

1. yes they do mature later and stay playfull longer
2. My Maine Coon was never playful. LOL. I don't think he matured "slower" either.
3. Yeah - think they mature alot slower. I know that they dont reach full size until they are around 4years old. My Maine Coon is a beast... absolutley obsessed with shadows. lol
