What is the ideal weight for Maine Coon cats?

I have three Maine Coons, one male, who is part Tabby. He is about 18 pounds. The other two, females, are purebred Maine Coons. One is about 14 pounds, the other is about 16 pounds. The male is 9 years old, the 14 pound female is 8 years old, and the 16 pound female is 5 years old. I was just wondering if my cats are overweight, or pretty ideal. Or underweight, which I doubt, but, I don't know. Thanks!

  1. HERE IS A WEB SITE TO LOOK AT CATS TO DETERMINE IS HE/SHE IS OVER WEIGHT
  2. That all sounds about right. I'm not an expert though. I had sort of a maine coon cat before. He got pretty big. As long as their bellies aren't dragging or swinging and they stay somewhat active, they should be about right.
  3. hi I have cared for Maine coon strays and their kittens. But yes, they get pretty big! They should be Big but not overweight!
  4. We also have Maine Coon cats, long hair...our male is 18 lbs, and our female is 16lbs.... Our vet has informed us that the male Maine coon cat weight can reach as high as 25lbs... The female cat weight can reach 20lbs...... It sounds like your cats are pretty ideal weight.... Best of Luck
  5. We have a 5 year old male Maine Coon cat that just had a vet visit and he weighed in at 24 pounds!!! He's not fat, just really big!
