Is it true that Maine Coon cats are hypoallergenic?

I didn't think that any cats were hypoallergenic, but then I heard someone say that Maine Coon cats are. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this?

1. Absolutely NOT. Long haired cats of any type generally cause MORE allergic reactions than others. Cat allergies are mostly linked to their saliva, so any cat with a tongue produces allergens. Sorry!
2. No ! They have great thick long haired coats I think the hypo allergenic ones are the rexes ( curly coated ) and hairless cats.

4. Nope we have 2 maine coons in the family & my brother sheezes and sniffles up a storm whenever near them.
