What do you think cats make of all the pictures we take of them?

I've noticed some cats seem to look like they're posing for pictures, but some of them just find the flash annoying and turn one ear slightly like "What are you doing, you idiot?" For instance... look at these pictures where I SWEAR they are posing! My friend's cat Jingles: http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f330/kitty86meow/1157.jpg My friend's dog Bella and my rabbit: http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f330/kitty86meow/1217-1.jpg My cat Romeo (who suspiciously looks like he's flipping the bird): http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f330/kitty86meow/0512.jpg Fluffy and I (he's so photogenic): http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f330/kitty86meow/MeandFluffy.jpg and just for fun, I added a cartoon I drew in highschool: http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f330/kitty86meow/Men-1.jpg

  1. Very good question! One of my cats adores having her picture taken while my 2 other cats always seem to close their eyes when I try so that's why I have more pictures of my little Zezete which is my avatar!
  2. All 5 of my cats seem to hate cameras. They make the strangest faces or run. People see my kitty pictures and think I am running a home for "special" cats lol.
  3. Thats an interesting point.. I have noticed that my cat will NOT let me take pictures of him on my webcam.. but he LOVES having me take them on my digital camera,,, its very weird!
  4. Cats don't really know what "taking a picture is" all they know is that a bright flash goes off and usually the person taking the picture reacts to how cute they look. The flash may startle some cats, or cause them to freeze and lay completely still which may be why it looks like they are posing from time to time!
  5. Most of mine seem to "pose" quite well, although Melissa my black long haired just comes out as a big black blob with a couple of dots for eyes! My beautiful Persian, Dora Blossom, who was killed just over 2 weeks ago was a star at being photographed and definitely used to show us her best angle - but that's Persians for you, little show offs!!!
  6. Hi =^..^= My two cats are totally different as far as being photographed. While my lilac point Oriental, Hush Puppy loves to "vogue" in front of a mirror, he is not thrilled about having his picture taken. On the other hand, while Trouble, now renamed Hubble, seems to just put up with my snapping pictures, there is something compelling to him about being in the center of attention. My former cat, Lucyfur, who did not get along with the boys and now lives as a single cat with a couple that just adores her, was a photogenic gift. She loved posing. The moment I took my camera out, she was right in my face, as a fabulous feline model. You can see the three of them if you visit: http://frequentlyfeline.blogspot.com/2008/03/language-of-cats-do-we-really.html And sometimes they just love to play with the little strap that hangs from the camera. Actually that makes for a neat little toy to get their attention. Taking photos of cats is definitely an art. My hat goes off to all those brilliant photographers who really do a fabulous job, such as the ones featured here: http://www.petplace.com/cat-pictures.aspx Troublesniffer Owned by cats for over 40 years Former Oriental Shorthair and Siamese breeder
  7. I have 5 cats and out of them only 4 likes cameras. You wouldn't beleive it, whenever my older cat or say first cat see the camera she will meow and pull by dress and when I am going to take her picture she will come forward and look so curiously in the camera. The other 3 cats will too come to join my Kitty(first cat) Sometimes one of them named (soline) will roll on the floor and rub herself on the carpet and when I say comon soline, she will look in the camera. My other cat, Star does not likes flash that much she will simply close her eyes. So she is not used to. My last cat Caline is so shyful that she will never come out with others. She will only come out when only I am there. She hates camera's flashes so much that she will begin to growl and so i could never take her photo. >^_^<
  8. I think that they are all like WTF is that, then they see the flash and like it, so they stay still when they see the camera. or others dont like the fash or the camera and run away or move.
