why do cats piratically mine like to lay on paper?

do they think it makes them look smart? are they just lazy and want me to be too? do they want me to not do my essay and just pet him? what is this weird cat's deal lol? anyone got any ideas as to how i can make 2 cats get along? the young cat that is about 2 years old nails and bites at the 5 year old cat and i feel bad for the old cat because he is very lovable and to old to be fighting.

1. They just want your attention - they are the center of the universe you know! I had a cat that would lay on whatever page I needed to read.... when I tried to read the other page, she would get up and move over so I couldn't read that page either.
2. They want to be the center of your world. Sweet isn't it?
3. hahah well one of my cats does this... alot! they just want you to stop what your doing and to itch themselves and to play with you and they want money to go shopping
4. My cat does this too; its nothing strange. Whenever I do my homework and my cat is in the house he lies right on top of my binder. This is only because he wants attention! Yeah, it's cute, but sometimes it gets in your way. =)
5. They realize (usually after coming to you and being ignored or shooed) that the paper is the center of attention, so they sit on it and get directly in your face so there's no way to miss them.
