  1. What are you feeding him? Food is the # 1 contributer to stinky poop. Buy a good quality food that does not contain a lot of fillers.
  2. As the weather is getting warmer now (or rather is meant to be!) try putting his litter tray outside. I did this with my cats at about that age and it got them used to going outdoors. after a few weeks the tray wasn't even being used any more so we put it away! no more stinky house!
  3. You didn't say what you're feeding him. If you're feeding him lots of dairy treats stopping that will help. Switching over to a high quality food like Wellness could also help.
  4. Cat shite is the worst. My cute little kitten used to totally lift the house with a small poo, I think it's concentrated!
  5. it could be the food that u r giving him. if it is not that then try to wacth him for the day and see what he is eating. if it gets so bad then take him to the vets
  6. Some cats just have that. My cat's poop smells so awful, it lingers for like an hour after I clean it. He is famous for it. I lost a roomate because of it. It gets worse depending on the food I feed him. There is stuff that you can put in his food to make his poop not as bad, ask your vet.
  7. because his primary diet is meat. If you were on the atkins diet yours would be just as bad. Use wood base cat litter and a litter tray with a lid on this helps to keep some of the pong out of the air.
  8. Get kitty a better quality food. Feeding him a high quality diet would result in a less stinky poop and he'll also be pooping less.
  9. Nutro brand cat food is supposed to reduce litter box smells by 30% and make smaller poos. Worlds best Cat Litter can be flushed in the tiolet even on septic systems. So scooping and flushing twice a day is more convenient. Smelly poos can be a sign of intestineal issues. Might be time for a trip to the vet.
  10. As many have answered, it really depends on his diet. You are what you eat and the same goes for your cat. A good high quality food will result in less smelly stool and firmer consistency. This is due to the amount of nutrients absorbed by the cat and how digestible the food is. Please bear in mind that although the general consensus is dry food results in less smelly poop, this is by no mean healthier for the cat. You will still have to deal with more bowel movement. Another reason for smelly poop is the type of litter you are using. Some are better at odor control than others. Some cats will cover and bury their pop while some will leave it on the litter with all it's glory. So, his litterbox habit will also determine the smell. How often do you clean out his litterbox? The best way to control odor is to scoop out the poop at least once a day and right after he poop. The less time the poop stays in the litter, the less smell it will emit. To summarize, It all boils down to his diet, his litter box habit, the type of litter and litterbox hygiene.
  11. has his crap always smelled so....crappy? Or has it suddenly gotten worse? If its always smelled terrible then you might want to change his litter more often or move his litterbox in a different area like your bathroom or basement if you have one. If his poo has suddenly gotten bad without any dietary changes then I'd take him to the vet, it may be a sign of some kind of digestive disorder. I have three cats and have a litter robot in our basement and when they take a dump it smells the whole upstairs for a good solid five minutes before it dissipates, and thats with us cleaning the litter bin about three times a week and with the litter robot sifting the mess a few minutes after they do their business. Cat sh*t stinks. I'm sure yours does too :)
  12. There are several main reasons. For one, if he has never been checked for worms, that would be reason #1 in my book. Almost all kittens have worms, getting them from their mother through her milk. And she got them from the critters she caught or flea bites. Stinky feces in kittens is almost always the result of having worms. Cats have a short digestive system, and they need the enzymes in the prey they catch to help them digest their food. That is why commercial cat food has organ meat rich in enzymes to aid in the digestion. A well digested cat food has minimal output odor. So if you are only feeding the lowest cost generic cat food, consider switching to a higher value product, but do it slowly, perhaps over a week, to avoid tummy upsets. A third possible reason is that some cat foods give a stinky output. I have been told cat food high in liver is one such food. The output should be rather firm, but if it is soft and runny, that suggests a vet needs to be consulted, as he is a bit under the weather.
  13. Kittens have the smelliest poo ever, it will get less intense the older he gets. Also, don't feed him cheap food.
