why do cats sit in doorways during thunderstorms? mine are doing it right now lol?

everytime there is a thunderstorm my cats sit in the doorway in my house like on the top of the stairs or the doorwayto my bedroom .its so weird.

1. Ours do something similar to that every time a thunderstorm comes in. I think it's because the hallway is halfway to the bedroom should the need to hide real quickly. I know this might sound kind of lame but I think it's the reason. :)
2. because they are scared and dont know what is happening. i once had a cat that would run under tables...anything really durning thunderstorms lol
3. my cat do the same thing i think they communicate some how (earth to robby earth to robby) ok im back i dont know
4. maybe that's where they feel safe.. mine look around when it thunders but don't act different or sit in weird places *lol*
5. they want to see what's going on, if they was scared, they would be under the bed
