Why do some people think it is so funny to make jokes about giving stray cats to Chinese restaurants?

1. What cute baby kitty! OOOOOOOOOH! I don't know. People can be downright mean sometimes and they think it's funny as well. There are some countries that do consider cats to be a delicatessan.
2. probably because people joke about the kind of meat that chinese restaurants use. they say these restaurants use the meat of cats, for dumplings, wantons etc etc....eeewwww...but its a joke!!! so go order ur favorite chinese now...lol
3. don't know. I thought everybody knew it is dogs that are considered a delicacy in Asia.
4. Ehhh... People are pretty sick. I have the unfortunate luck to have a vet who's office is right next door to a Chinese restaurant. I hear a lot of comments about that, believe me.

6. in some cultures in asia do eat dog and cat. it's considered a delicacy. also, they are animals that reproduce quickly, and are often found in the hundreds. i guess it's just easier that way. i personally LOVE chinese food so i try not to think about it. lol. i don't think that it's done much (or at all) in this country because of all of the health regulations that have to be met in order to have a restaurant. they are inspected regularly to make sure they are up to code on everything and to make sure the product that they use as their food or anything they sell is free from bacteria and is not out dated since these harbor toxins like salmanella and hepatitis A, B, and C that can make people VERY VERY sick and can even kill them. however, i wouldn't be surprised if it is done in the poorer nations not just in china, but all across the world.

8. Some people have not been brought up properly so they don't understand what is or is not in good taste. They think offending someone's sensibilities is funny. Just dismiss them. They say obnoxious things for attention anyway.
9. sometimes people joke about things that freak them out because they feel uncomfortable letting you know it bothers them too.... I dont know whether the urban myth and Chinese restaurants do often use cat in their food is proven to be common or not but I was in (a big city I wont name) and about 8 years ago there were dogs found in the freezer in the restaurant... this is true and was in the reputable newspaper.. I wouldnt doubt that they dont use cat from time to time.. I mean really whats the difference between killing a cat or a chicken? people have to eat and unless we get our population under control its only a matter of time before we also will be eating cat commonly because cities will consume farm land so beef will be extremely costly... I am an animal lover so dont get me wrong - THOUSANDS of cats and kittens are euthanized every day because there are too many of them (because of people who dont spay or neuter) so if they are killed and used as food does it really matter compared to if there bodies are thrown into the garbage???
