do cats walk funny if they are missing one side of their whiskers?

  1. I think so because I think that there balance or something like that..
  2. their whiskers are as wide as the biggest part of their body and they use them to gauge where they can walk and fit. if they are missing, the cat has trouble gauging where it should walk and go.
  3. yep, they do. Their whiskers are a big part of their balance, not to mention it's how they "feel" for things. My Turkish Van is blind and has very long whiskers. He uses them to walk around the house with, keeps him from bumping into the furniture, etc...
  4. Yes, cats will have a horrible life without their whiskers.
  5. No
  6. no
  7. No they dont neccersarily walk funny, but they will misjudge holes that they walk through because whiskas are as big as their body, so if their whiskers fit in they know there whole body will. I stepped on my Cats whisker once (accidentally) and she got up and it ripped out. It didnt hurt her and she didnt walk any different. AND when she came to us as a kitten it looked like someone has burnt her whiskas and they were shorter than width of body. and she walked just fine.
  8. I think that is possible. I know a mother cat who has an adventurous kitten will often chew the whiskers off the kitten to keep the young one from roaming too far from mama. Whiskers can grow back.
  9. Absolutely not! I have a cat and he loses his whiskers but walks normal. It's probably due to the fact that he has an injury on a foot. I would ask your cat's doctor to see what's wrong with your cat.
  10. yes, that's how they know they can't fit somewhere also, they will lean too if you cut one side, they get stuck in weird places when you do that.
  11. Yes your cat will walf funny, their wiskers are thier sense of balance.
