Cross Breeds

earcroping.. BAD?!?

I don't understand why people are against ear cropping~ I'm not against it but I wouldn't get it done to my dogs. apperantly if you have "love for pit bulls, you wont get their ear cropped" wat Tail docking I'm not against but I don't like it, because I've seen a really little baby puppy get its tail chopped off. Everyone said it doesn't hurt but it just kinda disturbed me. idk. I think pit bulls look cute with cropped ears, some look cute with floppy ears. I dont think it looks wrong.. The most popular reason for docking dog breeds is to prevent injury to working dogs. For instance, it has been stated that a vermin's bite to the working dog's flop ears can lead to a systemic infection, a serious medical problem that wouldn't occur were there no flop ears to be bitten. In hunting dogs, the tail is docked to prevent it from getting cut up as the dog wags its tail in the brush. This is contested by a wide range of groups and is often considered a form of animal cruelty and torture. This has led to the practice being outlawed and made illegal throughout many countries, in some of which dogs are no longer bred for work, or used as working animals. Most dogs are continued as family dogs

  1. well the reason people say dont crop is cause there ears were first croped for fighting and it just makes it look wrong now.
  2. the thing is, it doesnt hurt, their nerves arent completely developed and its numb-ish I love pitbulls, and i would get mine cropped, not for looks either, i plan on showing him I think they look cute either way, i dont think cropping makes them look more mean either, it doesnt... since when did pointy ears equal mean dog? my shiba has naturally pointy ears, she doesnt look mean either
  3. Why crop them? There used to be a reason and now there is not. I respect countries that have banned cutting a dogs ears and tail.
  4. Well first give me one good reason why a doigs ears should be cropped (besides it's cute or that's how it's always been) and I will tell you why it's good. I have never heard of a great reason why it should be done, besides "thats the way the breed is." added* wow I get thumbs down for giving my opninio.
  5. People are against ear cropping and tail docking because they are unnecessary cosmetic procedures. They are painful procedures done purely for appearance in most dogs (excluding actual working dogs who need it done to avoid injury). A typical pet dog has no reason to have its ears cropped or tail docked, why would anyone put a dog through unnecessary pain just so it will look 'cute'?
  6. The reason for cropping is so that the dog can fight w/o its opponent being able to rip its ear. Cropping causes the dog pain (imagine having part of you ear cut off!) So, as I am against dog fighting, I see no reason to crop their ears.
  7. Why would it be good? Just because it may look nice for the dogs appearance, doesn't mean it is in the best interest of the dog. Yes, it does cause pain on the dog - and it isn't needed. You surgically change the appearance of your dog, and you shouldn't care about whether they are cute, or the ugliest darn thing you've ever seen! If they have a heart and love you, then focus on that. I do not agree with altering a dog in anyway to increase the appearance of the breed, I just feel in these times, we do not need to do them to our dogs. The original intention of this surgery was to reduce injury to dogs who would engage in battle with other dogs, animals, or humans by giving the opponent less to grab onto. As you can see, there is no actual point to crop a dog's ears, other than for cosmetic reasons. Which, does not need to be done. Good luck!
  8. Well, I have to agree with Jacob, although my breed of choice is a Dobe. I have witnessed literally a hundred or more ear crops and tail dockings. I think that it a personal choice, and that is it! I wonder how many people on here that are always so against cropping and docking, have had their sons circumcised, have had body piercings or tatoos, themselves? Maybe alot, and maybe none. I just feel that it a matter of choice, and that there should be no right or wrong answer. We are all intitled to our opinions. If everybody agreed on everything, it would be a very sad and boring world.
  9. I like my amstaff with cropped ears. I like it better. Maybe I'm egoist, but.... if I had an ugly nose I made it better (plasatic surgery) so, I like him better with cropped ears. BUT!I have an Deutsche Dogge and I like it with natural ears.
  10. Well, in many states it is illegal to crop or dock.
  11. I love APBT, but I don't think cropping there ears is that bad of a thing. It makes the dogs head look larger, in my personal opinion; however, neither of my dogs have their ears cropped. I prefer the natural look, the way God made them. :)
