Is this puppy sick??
While at the store on Saturday, I spotted an extremely cute puppy running aimlessly around the parking lot.... couldn't be more than 2 and a half months old.... looks exactly like a black lab, he ran up to me and I immediately put him in my car. Now, with my career, I do not have the time to take care of a dog but I was a little concerned about this lil boy. At first, I thought the puppy was a female b/c of the enormous, protruding belly that it had, thinking that it was pregnant, but It's a male and I am a little concerned because, seriously, the belly is about as wide as the puppy is longways. Like I said, this baby looks exactly like a lab puppy. Anyone know what could possibly be wrong with this puppy? Today, I thought it would go down (thinking he ate too much) but his stomach looks exactly the same. Worms maybe? Let me know what you think before I take him to the vet tomorrow morning. Thanks. (btw, I'm not planning on keeping him, I'm just concerned for its well being)

- At 2.5 months old a dog wouldn't be pregnant, so scratch that male or female. Sounds wormy. Wormy pups get pot bellied, which it sounds like you are describing. Good luck at the vet tomorrow, and good luck finding him a good home.
- getting him to the vet is what you need to do and take a stool sample along for him to check.
- either coccida, or worms. The vet is the best way to go. I doubt bloat would show up in one so young! Good luck finding a home for the pup!
- I think it's defiantly worms. That is very common in puppies, especially if it was homeless. You are defiantly doing the right thing be taking to the vet. That's really nice of you to take it to the vet when it's not ever you're puppy. The world needs more people like you. EDIT h2o_maker is right you should take a stool sample. That will make it easier because if it is worms then they will need one anyways.
- Sounds like worms. The vet will be able to confirm.
- Yep, it sounds like worms... good luck with him and find him a good home! :)
- It definetely sounds like worms - extremely common in puppies. The puppy should be fine overnight, the vet will have a simple oral solution to the problem. But, of course, you are doing the safest and best thing for him by bringing him to the vet.
- It sounds like he has worms.
- That's so awesome you "rescued this puppie" sounds like he definitely has worms, but won't be a big deal... the vet will have a liquid fluid for him to take, very inexpensive.. will go right away
- Sounds like worms to me. When you go to the vet, make sure you do as H2O suggested, take a stool sample with you. When you try and find him a home, don't put free on ads. If you do, you might get irresponsible pet owners and people who preform lab tests on animals. Make sure you demand a vet history of any pets they have.
- sounds alot like worms! When my dog was a little pup he had a big belly and he had worms. I would do as others say and take the dog to the vet along with a poop sample so they can do a fecal test. then once its better you can find a good home for him! I hope the pup gets better and a good home!
- it's worms take him to the vet to get dewormers, that will help good luck and bless you for what your doing
- nothings wrong calm down
