  1. what dogs?
  2. no i dont. i think that pitts are wounderfull dogs. its he owners who should be banned for ever owning dogs. the way you train your dog REALLY affects the way they behave. if you train them to fight then you will get bad agressive dogs.
  3. Yes, they're not suitable to be household pets. They've been banned in the UK for years now.
  4. Yes, while I am sure the vast majority of people do have pitbulls loving pets. i think that the majority of dog attacks that happen involve this or a similar breed of dog. So therefore i think it is correct.
  5. No breed should be banned. It's been proved over and over again that breed specific legislation doesn't work.
  6. Dude, pitbulls are in a band? How cool is that?!?! Pitbulls are banned in certain areas because there are many irresponsible owners in those areas. The owners encourage aggression towards other people. Pitbulls are small, powerful beings able in inflict great damage. Like handguns, it may seem sensible to impose stronger restrictions where people behave foolishly with them. Also like handguns, bans do not generally work because the bad guys will ignore the ban and good guys have never been a problem with their dogs.
  7. I think any generalization that puts a group's reputation vs. individual accountability is a dangerous thing. This goes for human nationalities to dog breeds to people with tattoos. That said, there isn't a test or a permit needed to own a dog. Many people think that you get a dog and throw it in the backyard and it will be fine. There should be a concerted effort to educate the public on the responsibilities of dog ownership, that dogs are not disposable and choosing the right dog for your lifestyle is more important than choosing one that is "cute".
  8. no i dont think is fair....but then again its not fair on the kid or the adult or even another dog to get what pit bulls usually do...but what they should do is that we could have pitbulls but they would have to be trained if they are not trained then you cannot have a pitbull...well that my opinion...
  9. yes .. they are dangerous and unpredictable . children are very vulnerable to these. yesterday a rottweiler killed a one yr old .
  10. yes
  11. No. I think the owners of all dogs who have been known to attack or bite people should be forced to pay a huge fine and ordered never to own an animal again since they have already proven they cannot take the time to properly care for one and provide for all it's needs both mental and physical unless they can prove the dog was overly aggressive due to some medical condition that they were being treated for.
  12. they are not banned here
  13. No I don't think it's fair to ban and entire breed of dog whether it's pits or anyother breed. It should be done either on a case by case situation or how about we have potential owners have to take an IQ test to see if they are smart enough to own any breed. It is not the dog's fault it is not being trained and treated properly-they rely on us to feed, protect and properly care for them which yes includes training. I have seen so many people not be able to properly take care of their kids so why do they think they can raise a dog?
  14. ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!!!!! I FEEL THEY SHOULD FIND A WAY TO CONTROL WHO OWNS THEM EVEN TO MAKING IT ILLEGAL WITHOUT CERTIFICATION. IT IS NOT THE DOGS FAULT IT IS THE IMMATURE AND IRRESPONSIBLE OWNERS THAT ARE THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM. BANNING THE DOG WILL NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY WILL FIND ANOTHER BREED TO FIT THEIR NEED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. If the reason for the ban is for that breed of dog having a history of savaging people and other peoples pets then yes, it is not only fair but essential. Edit. Having just read a few answers a pal had a black German Sheperd dog since it was a puppy, he has owned dogs all his adult life. The dog, for no reason, attacked him and he had to have his arm sewn up. He was advised to have the dog put down. A few months later it attacked my pals (adult) son. He too had to have major surgery. The dog was destroyed. It was well looked after and totally obedient, something happened in the dogs head maybe. So, maybe these cases should be dealt with by merit and not across the board! Also I did some research and pitbulls were originally working dogs not fighters.
  16. NO
  17. Yes .They have been bred to kill and fight and that's what they do best. They are killers. Most of the dogs on the vidios are Not Pit bulls. What is NOT a Pit Bull? The Staffordshire Bull Terrier and the Bull Terrier are sometimes mistaken for pit bulls. Although they share a similar body type, they are substantially smaller dogs. American Bulldogs are also sometimes confused as pit bulls, but they, too, belong to a distinct breed. The Pit Bull Heritage The pit bull’s ancestors hail from England and were brought to North America by English immigrants. These descendants were bred from bulldogs, who were selectively bred to participate in an inhumane blood sport called baiting. In this “sport,” a dog was trained to attack a bull, bear or other large animal around the face and head, and had to hang on without releasing his grip until the animal became exhausted from fighting and from loss of blood. When animal baiting was banned in the early 1800s, people began to make their dogs fight against each other instead. As this sport gained popularity, enthusiasts developed a lighter, more athletic dog by breeding bulldogs with black and tan terriers. Known as “bull and terriers,” these dogs made their way to North America to become the forefathers of today’s pit bulls. Try this link video.aol.com/.../4289513276 OR icbirmingham.icnetwork.co.uk for every vidio you get links for i can show you another for the damage they can do.just google pitbull injuries and choose images ,if you want to feel ill.
  18. no kids should be banned
  19. Pittbulls are banned in my city. Many owners don't understand the importance to have these dogs well under control. No matter how sweet your dog is.....a dog is a dog. Many times when I visit our dog park I end up having an issue with a Husky cause this particular owner is irresponsible and let his dog escalate to a rage state before interfering. I would hate to see a pittbull in a public park with a owner that is this irresponsible.
  20. I think a band of Pit Bull terriers would be cool - they could do songs like "Rip it Up" - woof woof - LOL!
  21. Yes I agree with the ban on American Pitbulls and other dangerous dogs like Japanese Tosa's Some animals have the potential to be very dangerous and do you a great deal of damage and despite the fact most dogs make great pets and companions to have in the home some do not and posess that inherant potential to kill.
  22. I think banning a certain breed is ridiculous. Instead, try banning stupid people from owning dogs. It is almost always the owner's negligence or abuse that causes a dog to snap. The media has always liked to single out one breed of dog at one time or another. Twenty years ago, it was the German shepherd. Ten years ago, it was the rottweiler. Now, it is the pit bull. Statistically, pit bulls are fourth from the bottom of the list of biters. For those who want to argue that pit bull attacks are much worse, refer to the first paragraph. Pit bulls are intelligent, sensitive dogs that need our understanding, not our hate. Even Michael Vick's pit bulls are being rehabilitated and adopted out. Only a few had to be put to sleep.
  23. Pitbulls and rottweilers are notorious as being aggresive dogs.....ask yourself this, what type of people would go out of their way to own a dog like this. In lots of cases the temperament of the dog, reflects the owner. These type of dogs, have bad report in the press, as savage breeds, that attack people. Several people have died as a result of being mawled by these beasts. If you wont keep a violent person in your home, why would you want a violent dog in your home..... I will say it again,.....its because they want them for a reason. Wether a lot of people on this site agree with me or not, i dont care.....they are viscious, and should be banned....they serve no purpose to society, but to inflict terror to another person. I HAVE JUST SEEN THE VIDEO CLIP.......this is crazy.....this clip is just promoting the ownership of a dangerous breed.......are you still forgetting the attacks on human life. i will ask you again....would you allow a dangerous violent human criminal to live in your home....no?....then why would you allow a violent dangerous breed of dog to live in your home?. Seeing that video clip made me feel physically sick, especially the bits where the dog has close contact with a baby. If you have one of these dangerous breeds, i urge you not to let it near a child. Even a docile breed of dog can be dangerous, especially around children.
  24. No I think it is terrible. It is a sure sign of ignorance on the part of the governing bodies that make these laws, in more ways than one. Mainly they do not know anything about pitbulls except that they are very strong and just like any other animal have the potential to be viscious. So their ignorance causes them to fear the animal. Which goes hand in hand with the next reason. If they had done their research, they would have learned that there are many other breeds that are more aggressive, and there are far less reported attacks from pitbulls than there are from german shepards, dobermans, and rotweilers, than from pitbulls. I am a proud owner of an AMSTAF (american staffordshire terrier) one of the larger breeds of pits. And I have five kids (six counting him). And he is the gentilist creature i have ever seen. All of my kids waller and roughhouse him constantly and all he does is roll over and try to get them to rub his belly. Pits are just like any other pet or person. If you raise them to be viscious, then they will be viscious. If you raise them with love then all they know is love. Ive seen many pits without an agressive bone in their whole body that want nothing more than to play or get a good scratchin. I don't think it is fair to ban a breed of dog. If anything, they should make owners obtain liscenses, maybee then they could regulate who can own a dog and who cannot. Maybee thats a bit excessive but its still a better solution than just banning a dog because of its false reputation.
  25. pitbulls can be wonderful companions but they could be banned cuz of how ppl think of them as bad dogs its not fair.other dogs could be just as bad, but where ever u live u should see why they r banned
  26. Of course it isn't fair! The problem with banning a certain breed is that it makes it more 'desirable' to the very people who shouldn't own them! It's a bit like drinking alcohol, (much more fun or more daring when you are under-age). Some people also buy breeds like Pitbulls and their close relatives,Rottweillers, Dobermans and my own breed the GSD and instead of finding ways of putting the 'guard' instinct to it's proper use or subduing it, actually train it to be aggressive, or worse treat them like children and allow the dogs to become 'Alpha' through lack of clear leadership! A GSD bites someone and they are suddenly the worst breed in the world, yet what about the thousands out there that work alongside man in many capacities (including guiding the blind and 'rescuing' humans). Funny how everyone forgets them....... and it's the same for other breeds! I think people should have to pass a test to own any dog and perhaps have a licence for different categories of dog. After all you can't ride a 1000cc Motorbike on a learners licence or drive a car! By the way in 50+ years of owning GSD's and GSDX's and other breeds plus knowing many dogs I've only been attacked once and that was by a Labrador Retriever!!!!! Do I think they should be banned? No but the owner of the dog should have never been allowed to keep any dog!
  27. no dog deserves to be band again it people that train them to be aggressive and use them for fighting its not the dogs fault i feel Rottweilers are worse because of there size.
  28. YES!! And I think you are all forgetting all those poor babies, children and adults injured or KILLED by these dogs, some of these dogs have been reported as being extremely lovable and lovely pets and all of a sudden one day it just changed and ripped a 20 month old child to shreds!!!! You just cant trust a dog of that breed!! End of!! They wont be able to restrict people owning dogs and making sure they are raising them right and being responsible!! Those videos are sick, especially the ones with the babies!! Your only showing the picture of when they are puppies or sleepy, I dare you to google pitbull injuries and have a look at those pictures!!! Now that is sick and you dont want this banned??
  29. No, but certain people should be banned from owning them! If you are going to take on a breed like a pit bull then you have to be responsible. Breeds like pit bulls often attract the wrong kind of owner - pit bulls are amongst the most loyal and devoted dogs on the planet. They were not bred to be human aggressive - they were bred to fight other dogs, and in organised dog fights the dogs are handled when they are injured after the fight and constantly during the fight itself. Human aggressive dogs were, at one time, culled. Aggressiveness towards humans was not tolerated. It is only fairly recently that human aggressiveness was encouraged. Pit Bulls are probably the most most abused breed on the planet, and dog fighting is probably one of the most barbaric 'acts' of animal cruelty we can inflict upon companion animals. They suffer appalling injuries, and dogs that don't meet the grade as a fighting dog are inhumanely killed. They lead miserable lives. Anyone convicted of dog fighting, or owning a dog that was dangerous should recieve a lifetime ban on owing ANY dog. And a prison sentence, not just some pathetic fine.
  30. No. pits are sweet it is not the breed it is the owner. If the owner dose not raise it right it will be mean but if they raise it right it wont
  31. if a man attacks another man should he be band ?? Sometimes violent criminals blame their past for their behaviour and the judges go lenient on them. If a dogs up bringing was looked in to then the owners would more than likely be held responsible for their behaviour.I own a staffie and i can honestly say that she is the most loving, sweet and gentle animal i could ever wish to own. My kids adore her and even my cat loves to go to her for a good old slobbering. I dont think anyone has the right to ban another living thing on account of hearsay and speculation
