Which breed of small dogs are very good to get for a 12 years old kid?
Which breed of small dog is very good for a male 12 years old kid? My cousin wants one between these four dogs: 1 Silky Terrier 2 Norwich Terrier 3 Norfolk Terrier 4 Yorkie He wants one that is very sweet to people and other dogs, easy to house train, and very intelligent. Which one from the list is all those?-He only wants one from that list.

- prolly a yorkie
- I say a Yorkie just because I have been around a lot of them. Has he looked at a Corgi???
- I would choose a silky terrier. Everyone has a yorkie these days.
- If I was a 12 year old boy, I'd want a "huck finn" type larger dog that would explore with me, not a little lap dog.
- Before you choose a breed, you need to do your own research! The internet has more information than you could ever want, and it's so easy to find. Trust me, it will be so worth it to really know what kind of dog you are getting. Since you have narrowed it down to four breeds, take the time to Google each one. That's all it will take to learn what you need to know. Here's a great place to start: http://www.yourpurebredpuppy.com/dogbreeds/index.html A dog is a 10-15 year commitment, so PLEASE make sure you are getting the kind of dog you want, and NOT what people here tell you is the right dog. Just looking at your list, I can tell you haven't done any of your own research. A Norwich, for example, is almost impossible to find and very expensive. Is that ok? Yorkies are VERY difficult to house train. Is THAT ok? Please please look into this yourself and do not use Y!A as a shortcut. When you have the perfect dog, you will be glad you did.
- Honestly, if it were me buying the dog, I would go with a larger breed. Large dogs are easier to train, more gentle, and definitely less yappy. Small dogs make up for their lack of size in attitude, and if this is a dog for a child, then I would definitely go with a larger one. Labs are excellent dogs, and very, very sweet. Research whatever breeds you are considering, and then make your decision based on your findings. Good luck!!
- Well, actually, it' s best you look up at the temperament of those dogs first and decide it yourself, because we don' t know exactly what you want in your dog, so...... And also, if you can, why don' t you rescue those little poor puppies from the shelter? People always want the purebreds and they don' t neuter them, so they keep on having babies that are abandoned to the shelter, if this keeps on happening, I don' t know what will happen...... But if you want a purebred, I would say the Norfolk Terrier is the best among the four, I have looked up the other' s dog' s temperament, they both tend to bark a lot and like to dig, they are also aggresive towards strangers and other big dogs too. Norfolk Terriers are active, courageous, affectionate, balanced, and without any nervousness or quarrelsomeness. They are easy to train but need consistent rules to follow. These little dogs love everyone and are good with children. A great dog to have! Good luck!
