Any suggestions on training my Boxer around my two other dogs please?

I have two small dogs, fox terrier and a pug. I recently was given a Boxer puppy who is now 7mos old. I have been taking him to training classes because as some may know, they are very active dogs. However, when I take all three to the dog park in the evenings, he seems to forget all the training he was getting that day; and when we are alone at the training center, he is the perfect student.. How can I get him to not be goofy around my two little monsters and behave at the dog park? Suggestions please.. My trainer suggested leaving the two dogs home and walk them separate or I will have added duties to get my new puppy to behave. But, I would feel guilty paying more attention to my Boxer and vice versa.. Help.

  1. ask a trainer or look up how to train a dog on www.wikihow.com http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rK3O2i2Q9B8
  2. Sounds like your trainer has a good idea, take him to the park let him run off some steam. Give him time to rest and take the other two out. Most families when they add another child have to give more time caring for the newby. Talk with your trainer some more.
  3. While at the park with them all - continue with him the training he has been getting. The more it's repeated, and followed through the better he'll become. It just takes time for him to get into the routine. Good luck Fox
  4. I know how you feel. My boxer as a puppy was #1 in his puppy class. He did everything perfectly but he acts wild with other dogs. He's just so energetic. Its almost like he has ADHD. The training goes out the door and he's off and running. I have yet to break him of this habit, thank god we have a fenced in backyard. I just let him exercise til he drops. Good luck. My boxer is now 3 and still just as energetic as a puppy.
  5. My sister has a Boxer and I have a Pug. At first they didn't really get along cuz her dog was much bigger than mine and always wanted to play. My dog is about two years older than hers and at first was really grumpy all the time but after awhile they seemed to be getting along better. My dog learned to be more playful and hers learned to be more calm. Just keep them together and keep working on her manners.
