How much do boxer dogs cost and are they easy to train? Also are they smart? Is it a good choice to buy?

- boxers from rescues, shelters, pounds cost $50-200 to adopt from a reputable breeder $900+ The breeder or rescue should be able to answer any questions reguarding the breed You can aslo try websites suchs as www.dogbreedinfo.com,akc.org and www.yourpurebredpuppy.com
- price could be 0 to 500.00 But they are very high energy dogs, so be commited if you do. Read up on the breed. They are big and strong. Sometimes stuuborn.
- Buy was the first word that caught my eye. You didn't say whether you wanted a puppy or dog. If a puppy, you can get a badly bred dog really inexpensively, or a well bred one for much more. Pet store dogs are all puppy mill dogs (badly bred, parents badly treated... go to nopuppymills.com) and you definitely don't want to do that. The pedigree is junk, the health unknown, you cannot see the parents... on and on. The next puppy choice is the backyard breeder. They test the savvy of buyers because breeding SHOULD be about improving the breed (and its temperment). So a savvy buyer would ask, do you show? If not, take a walk. All they want to do is put two animals of the same breed together to enhance their bank account. If they don't show and/or don't compete in any kind of trial, etc., that seals the deal. It's all about the money and not about the dog. The third alternative is a breeder that does show/compete and has champions in the line (still, you need to research the pedigree).. Good breeders test for health, track their dogs, and any number of things to set them well apart from the previous two. They are more expensive, but so is a house that isn't a fixer upper). They have, for sale, dogs that must be shown and those that are considered pet quality. Prices are vastly different. If you are looking for an adult dog, please go to a reputable rescue. If in CA, contact Boxer Rescue of Los Angeles. There is nothing they do not provide their dogs. If elsewhere, please go to petfinder.com and put in your zip and the dog breed and you can find a rescue dog near you. There are thousands of boxers in shelters, also. Many will be killed because rescues are swamped all the time in this breed (thanks to inscrupulous breeders). My neighbor has a shelter boxer, Malena, and she is absolutely perfect. She is a great dog, so don't count shelter dogs out. It's a great breed. Very trainable, very nice, and they love their people! Best wishes to you!
- from what i've seen boxers are good dogs. you should try to adopt one from a shelter..........or look for a boxer mix. in general mixes have less health problems. from my experience, boxers are prone to tumors and skin issues.........although, with any breed there are certain things they are prone to. study up on them if you are seriously interested.
- In my experience they're difficult to train and unintelligent in the excess but I know plenty of people who like them, and they do have sweet tempraments. They need LOADS of exercise, so you really need to ready for that. Big chewers too, so that's another thing to prepare for. Between $50 (adoption from pound or rescue)- $1000 (show quality) would be the price range I'd expect. I'd recommend a rescue boxer, as many boxers are surrendered because their owners weren't ready for the work required, even more so than other breeds. Before you get a boxer, make sure you really want a dog. All dogs are huge commitments, but boxers need lots of patience in training, and lots of excercise.
