Why are most girls who ride horses ugly? There just seems to be a relation to horses and ugly girls? I obviously know good looking girls ride horses but I'm talking about in general, the majority.

Why Does It Seem That Mostly Girls Ride Horses These Days? I have been to my girlfriend's horse barn a bunch of times and its always full of girls. The only guy I saw was the barn owner's son. boys, girls and horses........? My son is 9 years old and rides. He asked me why people say horses are for girls or why most girls love horses but most boys don't. I told him that the truth was, a lot of boys are secretly afraid of horses so they just put them down instead (I don't want him to be discouraged in his riding by kids telling him horses are for girls). So, then he asked the follow up question: "why are boys scared of horses, and then why aren't girls?" I didn't have a good answer for him. Can anyone come up with something that kind of explains why mostly girls like horses, but at the same time doesn't discourage my son from riding (even if it's not entirely true, like what I said about boys being scared)? He's in Pony Club and there are several other boys in our club, so he's not all alone, but he hears things at school and notices that it's mostly girls riding.

How to deal with little girls and horses? Okay so sometimes we have little parties at our barn and we have these AMAZINGLY prissy little girls. I know we all had a situation like that. So basically we have these girls ranging from age 13 to 6 all together in one room with horses. Personally I hate being by those girls, I'm usually really quiet and I hate it when I get disrupted by little girls screaming at the top of their lungs saying "OH LOOK AT THE PRETTY LITTLE PONY, ITS SO PRETTY I WANNA TOUCH IT, WILL IT BITE ME???????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I get so annoyed... Today I was just reading my magazine and had my filly standing there tied up. I turned away for one second, the next second people we all over her...They kept petting her and she started to flip out! I have no problem with people petting my horse, but just please for the horse's sake not all at once! I quickly got her out of the situation. How should I deal with girls like this? Especially at parties? Other times we have kids who come from different places (usually troubled kids, who don't have parents, or their families need extra help, etc.) and for some reason they're more sane. I'm wondering if that's because they have like 4 or 5 supervisors. Anyways how do I cope with this stuff? Its usually a random time so I don't get warned when it happens. How about my filly, what would be some good exercises to get her used to lots of people petting her? Thanks!

When is it okay to hit a horse during training? Went to a training session at a girls horse camp where they were teaching young girls to work on grd manners w/ young horses 2.5-4 yrs. I went with my 2.5yr old mare. Another 3.5yr old mare was a serious pill. i.e. first rubbing head on handler and not respecting space then when trainer got a hold of the horse, the horse became more pushy and agitated then she began to rear and strike. Each bout of misbehavior followed w/physical punishment starting with a yank on the lead to slap to crop slap a couple of times. I raised the question to the trainer if physical punishment was absolutely neccessary. She said yes. It all about "domination." Also, added that you often need to catch the horses leg and let them flip themselves over when they rear and strike. I am raising this question to others because i have not had to hit my horse. I openly admit I am toooo emotional about my horse. So far my mare is extremely responsive and I have really enjoyed hanging around with her.

There is a girl and she is really nice and she always wants to stand by me before barrel racing but her horse like spins in circles and tries to side pass and back into me and my horse. This one may be a bit obscure, but I once read a book as a child (Young Adult, Fiction) where the main character is a teenage girl who lives in the country on a farm or ranch in the middle of nowhere with her father and siblings. She is afraid of horses, particularly one - a horse her mother rode and fell off of and died. Her father eventually hires a farmhand who seems odd, and as the book progresses, the girl looks into the farmhand's past and meets his mother (Opal/Alma?) who reveals that the farmhand is a killer or some other kind of antagonist. At the end the girl is left alone at home and ends up having to ride the horse to safety to get away from the farmhand. Does anyone have any idea what the title/author of this book may be? What To Do To Feel Less Awkward Around An All-Girls Horse Barn? I asked a question like this hours ago but wanted to ask something more particular since most of you are females lol. I am a guy whose girlfriend is all into horses and riding. Until meeting her in school, I never have been around horses or a barn. Anyways she is there so often she wants me to go to be with her. is it okay for horses to have chipped hooves? is it okay??? this horse down the road has chipped hooves. One has missing teeth ( idk from old age, it looks around 15-17 years old, and the other you can see it's ribs,hip bones, and it has blood marks on it, and it has scars that are vissable. The gang of my friends ( three ) we are three teen girls ages between 15-14. These horses we just noticed today, and since we are animal lovers, we are worried about them. One of the horses we think is pregnate, and she is the one that looks the most unhealthest. She let us touch her belly, and she didn't mind surpising. We would fell her belly moving and kicking. By the way, there are two girl horses and one boy. The other girl doesn't seem to have a big belly like the other one. We trespassed on the lot, i know it's wrong, but we couldn't stand how bad the horses look in shape. The owners i know keep the horses in a different town than where they live, and i don't know if they come at night to lock them in. We gave the horses leaves, apples, carrots, and they were really hungery! like starving. We went in, and they were a little skiddish, but then they trusted us and started to come up to us and started being friendly. I think they knew we were trying to help them. The yard where they are is full with crap and is not very clean. It as really old hay, and really really short grass. Diararria is everywhere, and their is a little pond that they drink from has a old bucket that is rusted and it is in the pond. I clearly think they are getting abused. Bringing new horses home.. collic? PLEASE ANSWER!? So, after reading the question about the girls horse dying after she brought it to her boarding stable.. it got me thinking. My sister and I are bringing our horses(4yr old TN walker/Standardbred and 7mo old Arab colt) to our boarding stable on Saturday. They are only coming from about 45min-1hour away. The 4yr trailers fine, so the trip shouldn't be to bad on him.. but the 7mo old has never been in a trailer or even handled (other than a TINY bit to get a halter on him). I'm really worried that it'll be too much on him and he will collic! I saw on the other question that people said the girls horse may have died from stress related collic. I know that when they come to put them in their stalls and give them water. But how long do we wait until we turn them out and feed them? The pasture isn't lush or rich. Do we wait a few hours, a day, more?!!! PLEASE READ ON!!! The baby won't be put into the pasture until he is used to being handled. But how long do I wait until I turn my horse out (the 4yr old)? And how long do we wait until we feed them? The will roughly be there at about 1-2pm so I want them to be able to eat hay and grain that night, is that too soon? Also, we are changing their hay to alfalfa (they are both a bit underweight and that is the ONLY hay available in my area). But I thought it would be a good idea to wait 2-3 days to let them settle in the new place before starting the switch, is that a pretty good idea? P.S.- We are having a very experienced horseman to help out with the trailering of the foal and do it right instead of trying to rush him in there. Any help and suggestions are appreciated! The thing about the hay is the ONLY hay I have or can get is alfalfa. The old owners have agreed to sell enough hay to us to make the switch but that's all they can spare. Hay is very scarce in Ohio right now. So the change will need to start a few days after we get them there, or we'll be in trouble and not be able to do it properly. No problem with putting some hay in the trailer, and in the stalls when we get there! =] Also, there are no other horses at the boarding place. It is a small farm that the lady doesn't usually board but she sold her horses. The two horses are coming from different farms and do not know each other though. We are bringing them in the same trailer. What can we do it prevent shipping fever? We can't wrap the colts legs.. he has only been handled once. We can try the calming paste, but I don't know how much luck we will have getting it in him! *cutie*girl*- We just bought the colt. It wasn't up to us how much handling he got. Horse People Ahoy!! What do we need to consider before getting 'in to' horses? We are considering buying a property in an area which has a lot of horse properties (ours wont be one of them, though with work we could establish stables etc). We have 3 daughters 10 years old and 2 toddlers, they have never ridden. I can ride but have never owned a horse or participated in eg equestrian activities. If we wanted to get our girls involved with horses, how do we start? Can they learn to ride without owning a horse? How do we stable a horse on someone elses property, aprox how much to do so? How much minimum flat land is needed to run 1-2 horses on a property? What are the problems with sloping land and horses? How exxy are vet fees, and can we get people to help us train the horse and the kids? What else do we need to consider before getting 'in to' horses? Advice, opinions? Thanks everyone for the advice. Why are horses considered more for girls? Im a guy and I grew up riding horses. I rode Western and English. Well of course at horse camp it was mostly girls and just me and two other boys. I didnt mind it because naturally I liked the girls! But I wondered why people associate horseback riding with girls only. Because when you think about it, its a very masculine more boyish thing to do. I mean, its rugged and all. All the horse stories used to be about a boy and his horse. Now they are about a girl and her horse. Does this mean horses as a sport once considered masculine , is now considered more feminine? Lol. It doesnt hurt to ride. You sit down on your bottom not on your .... well, you know. Im a guy and I love horses, but I dont think I ever did have that "oh my horses!" feeling that girls get when they are that age. I just loved getting on my horse and riding. I did shows and jumping too- and yes it was mostly all girls. But I just loved to ride. I didnt really care about the horse shows as much. Maybe thats where the difference is between boy riders and girls.

Mean girls who ride horses? Im almost 17 years old and have been riding atthis barn since i was 14. At first i loved it out there, so many people to ride with. Now, everyone is back stabbing and mean. Girls I have been friends with for years have done some really mean things to me. There is a short animated film about two hats, that fall in love and two horses that fall in love.? When i was little, my music teacher would show the class this short cartoon film to us. It was about two horses that fell in love and two hats that fell in love. The two hats were together in a hat store, and the blue hat (which was the boy) was on one side of the store, and the pink hat that was the girl was on the other. The two hats had big bows on them, and the laces were coming off long, the pink hat blew out of the store, and the blue hat wanted her back so he went out and look for her. The pink hat found a girl horse, and the blue hat found a boy horse, the two horses loved eachother, so they saw eachother everyday, the day that the hats were woren by the horses was the day the hats were back together, the horses stayed together, and so did the hats. and they lved happily. what is the stupidest thing you have ever heard about horses? mine would be this; me and dad were walking down the road leading romeo down to our place because he had been at a big paddock up the road. so dad was leading romeo on the side of the road because we dont have a float, and i was walking in the middle of the road to get people to slow down because romeos is quite spooky and (it was a kind of quite road, not many ppl go down it but when they do they speed) and one guy slowed to a stop and wound down his window. i walked over there and said' thanks for slowing down.' and he goes,'is he a bull? is that why you want people to slow down?' and i say 'no he is a gelding. a gelding is a male horse.' and he says 'but i thought there were only bulls and girl horses.' i didnt know what to say to that. what is the stupidest thing you have ever heard?
friend caught hacking a girls account? (10 points!)? my friend has this thing with one of her old best friends (lets say sally) and she knows all sallys passwords so she went on a site thats kinda like myspace (but its not) and went on sally's account and wrote some really mean things that like the girls horse should drop dead and she has no life and stuff like that. so she went on sallys email and saw she emailed the abuse email and said someone hacked so she got nervous and changed it all back so sally could get back on and erased all the mean stuff but sally hasnt gotten back on yet. and they emailed her back and said they'd like to further investigate and to provide all this stuff and such. what can happen to her? can they like trace it to her computer? and what will be the consequences?? its not a paid site

They also slapped the horse everytime it didn't do exactly what they wanted. I ride horses, and I know a crop is necessary sometimes. But their crops were used for punishment, not as an aid. How do I unhalter my horse in pasture with other aggressive horses? My 2.5 year old 14.1 paint just got big enough to be turned out with a 12 year old 14.2h gelding and a 4yr 14.1h old paint mare in a 5+ acre pasture. I am having difficulty with the mare in particular. She won't leave my little girl alone when I am turning her loose after training. Yesterday, I think she tried to mount her while I still had the halter on. I can't even lead my girl past the gate. I am having to use all my assertiveness just to keep the mare away by using my voice and swinging the lead rope. This of which is confusing my sweet girl. My girl is the only horse that is borded at this facility. I am not quite sure what to do. Also, this horse continues to whinny whenever I take my horse out of the pasture. Lastly, when it's September-May I feed all the horse at the ranch 4x a week.
