How protective can boxer dogs -eventualy- be? We got a boxer puppy hoping it would protect our family if one of us was home alone. Our puppy seems to love everyone. If he's going to hurt you, he's going to lick you to death. We hope that eventually he will get a little more protective. Boxer Dogs. Should I get a Male or Female? Hello, Im getting a Boxer dog soon. I was just wondering what would be a wiser choice, a male or a female? Ive had male dogs all my life, so it only seemed natural to get a male. But after doing some research and learning that they can be quite a handful if not nuetred so im kind of confused as nuetering isnt an option. (think its cruel) Its not that id never nueter the dog .. i just wouldnt untill it was nesecary! If it needed spaying or nuetering for health reasons i wouldnt hesitate in doing so. I dont believe that my dogs balls should be cut off just "incase" . THats like women cuttng their breats off to prevent breat cancer. Yes i want a lively dog. if i didnt id have gone for a Pointer as you said. And seeing i own 2 English Setters already i am familiar with that kind of temerment and want something different.

what skin allergies can boxer dogs get on thier earflaps? my boxer is constantly scratching at his ears. we have epi-otic, a cleanser that the vet gave us and here we are a month later and he is still scratching to the point that he makes his earflaps bleed. we took him to a specialist and he said it was food allergies, so we put him on an expensive diet (which only helped with his flatulance problem... i would much rather him pass gas than itch till he bleeds) and still, he scratches. we are so frustrated with this because we see how bothersom it is to our pup. we are going for a third opinion this weekend and we hope that someone (hopefully a boxer breeder) will be able to help our 10 month old pup.
