How much to sell cross breed puppies for? This is the first time my dog has given birth. She is a pedigree Labrador, and the male is a springer spaniel. The puppies came out brown and black and are very cute. I am not sure how much people sell cross breed dogs for? or do they even sell them? I have looked around and saw some people charging £200 which is a bit much! but I am unsure.
Does anyone know of a breeder who breeds boxador puppies, e.g. boxer-labrador cross? I have read up on both breeds. And seen some photos of the boxador and think they make lovely companions and are great looking dogs, however it seems as if there is no puppies or breeders of the boxador that I can find in the UK. Please help, and please tell me your stories about how you purchased your boxador and what your dog is like.
My senior dog drools when hes with our two new puppies? Yesterday we adopted two new cross-breed puppies from the SPCA. They are around 6 months old. When we brought them home and introduced them to our Senior black Lab, they started playing with him and play biting his mouth etc. Then he started drooling and sat away from the pups. And now every time he's around them he starts drooling. It's really weird. Does anyone know why he would drool around them?
why is it so expensive buying a cross breed puppy? you used to buy puppies cheap can someone please tell me why private owners look in the papers and look at breeders prices and the private sales put there prices up even no the dogs are not pedigrees
Why do dog breeders frown upon people who cross breeds? Crossing breeds is actually healthy for the puppies. My guess is that many breeders frown upon it because they are so caught up in the purebred/show circuit, and therefore feel that purebred dogs are better. And I honestly don't see any reason why a mongrel has any more of a chance to end up in a shelter than a purebred dog. A dog is a dog afterall, whether it be purebred or mongrel. I also like purebred dogs very much, but I don't think they are "better" than mongrels. Purebred dogs just look more similar to each other. Both purebred and mongrel dogs are equally good. Opinions?
is it good to have a cross breed belgian malinois than a pure breed malinois? people have said that belgian malinois pure breed puppies tend to be stubborn and very high drive dogs. pain on the neck to train, so i am thinking to have a cross breed belgian malinois to neutralize the effects of the dog behavior, since i love belgian malinois breeds. they also say that belgian malinois are much stronger and protective compared to german shepherds. thanks
Where can I buy a Maltese cross puppy? I'm looking for Maltese x Poodle or Bichon Frise or Cavalier King Charles. I have heard lots of horror stories about puppy mills and pet shops and of course do not want to purchase a dog from a place that does not care about the welfare of the animal. However, where else can I buy a cross bred puppy? Registered breeders I assume will only sell pure breds? Are there any reputable breeders that have cross breeds? I have tried dog rescue organisations but have found they seem to have very strict guidelines and are not keen for us to adopt because we both work full-time even though my husband goes home for at least an hour for lunch. We live in Sydney so would appreciate if anyone knows of a reputable breeder? Thanks
What breeds are in these puppies? PLEASE ANSWER!? What breeds are in these puppies? It says they are 'medium cross breeds' but I really want to know what breeds are in them. http://www.rspcavic.org/pet_adoption/ballarat_adoption.htm Thanks to anyone who answers. x
Does a cross-breed litter ruin a female? A friend has a registerd female German Shepherd. A stray male got to her, and she had a litter of cross-breed puppies. They would like to breed her to a registered male Shepherd, but have been told that she is "ruined" because she had an "unpure" litter. I don't know why it would be true, but would like to hear what people with more knowledge say. For breeding purposes, is she ruined or not?
Why are some people against crossing dog breeds? Some people say that crossing dog breeds is bad and crosses have a higher chance to end up in shelters. This is ridiculous because crossing breeds is actually GOOD for the puppies. It makes healthier dogs because of something called "hybrid vigor". And why would a cross have a higher chance ending up in a shelter? That makes no sense at all. Some people say a mongrel's puppy's adult temperment is "unknown", but that is baloney. The vast majority of all dogs (mongrel or not) have good temperments if raised properly, and it has nothing to do with whether it's a mongrel or not. I don't see anything wrong at all with crossing dog breeds, and it's actually beneficial to the puppies. Forget about the confirmation shows and stuff, cause that stuff is just nonsense anyways. Comments??
were can i buy a maltese cross yorkie puppy? i would love to buy a maltese cross yorkie puppy, as i love both breeds.she would be well spoilt and loved with my husband and me, my husband is retired and i am in my 50's, we have a yorkie cross now who is 8 and also a poodle cross who is nearly 5 and both sleep on my bed ans are well loved little girls who love everyone and other dogs.can anyone recormend a maltese cross breed.
Are you Fed up with all of these 'Designer Breeds'? I was looking through this advertisement website and was a little irritated by the number of people who advertise their cross breed puppies as one of those designer dogs. I came by A 'Maladoor' (a cross between a Malamute and a Lab), a 'Samreiver' (a Samoyed cross Retriever) and even a pugtese (a Pug cross Maltese)??? And these pups are selling for the same as a pure bread usually would! I am very annoyed with these backyard breeders and their efforts into producing these so called 'designer puppies' its not at all the dogs fault! There are so many unregistered mutts out their and these so called breeders are just adding to them...oh but just giving their mutts fancy names! I am not judging on any individuals or anything I just needed to see if anyone else thinks the same way or if I am just over exaggerating... I am also a big fan of dogs but as many people said I would rather want to see dogs in shelters find a home...and as I said its not the dogs fault...its the Producers and the Consumers!
Pet insurance for puppies? I need to get some pet insurance for my new cross-breed puppy. He's 16weeks old, has had his jabs and is in good health. Can anyone recommend a provider? I'm going round in circles on search engines and comparison sites and need a good personal recommendation! I should add that I live in the UK so british providers would be the mot helpful... My MUm put a deposit on 2 Shitzu Maltese cross puppies? should we get them? They are really cute i had a dog that was the same breed and was black and white female that died a few weeks ago. After mum put the deposit on 2 : 1 black and white female and one balck, white and brown male i felt sick and didn't want them anymore. I am not good with making dessisions and we have to wait and see my dads' reaction! WHAT DO I DO! And what should i call them if we do get them?
whats the cost of a kennel license in Houston,TX? I have four german sheperds and 2 cross breed puppies. I've gotten complaints from one grumpy neighbor about having too many animals, then the pound showed up and said if I wanted to have more than 3 dogs I need a Kennel License. Does anyone know the cost of the kennel license? And is it a annual charge?
How do you introduce two 6 month old puppies to 3 adult cats? We adopted two cross-breed puppies from the SPCA yesterday and we have three adult cats who are very important to me. The puppies are staying in my pool area until its safe for my cats ( the cats cant get into the pool rea). The 6month old puppies have never seen cats before so they do react a bit to them. I really need them to get used to the cats and not kill them. I took them on leashes and brought in one cat and they growled quietly and got abit jumpy. Does anyone have any tips on how I can train them? My senior Lab loves the cats and licks them. Please help!
seriously, this lady wants me to believe this stuff about her "cross breeds"? Okay, I may totally have an "open mouth insert foot" moment for this because honestly I dont know much about registering dogs other than I know my cocker is AKC registered but we have never shown him... I didnt think you could register "crossbreeds" aka DESIGNER DOGS. *barf* I saw this add on kijiji for "Mastidane" or "Daniff" puppies for $500 with CKC papers! uhhhh..is this even possible? I emailed this lady and was like yeah, they are cute puppies but how the heck can you charge 500 bucks for a mutt and say they are papered... Here is her response My dogs are not classified as a "mixed breed" or "designer breed". They are a crossbreed. All dogs derive from a mix of some kind that have been perfected over the years to obtain the breed that they are now. You cant register a mix breed, but you can register a cross breed. I have the pups CKC papers in hand, recieved them in the mail yesterday. I didnt have any problems with getting papers for them with my first litter either. I have refrences and proof of my papers for my other litters. I am advertising them with papers because I have papers. Goggle Mastidanes or sometimes they are referred to as Daniffs and see what you come up with. I have sold pups as far up as Canada and over to Illinois and down into Tennessee and there has not been one person that has been disatisfied with my pups or their papers. Thank you" is there a difference between a mutt/designer dog/hyrbid/ CROSSBREED I didnt think there was, I could be wrong. And there is nothing wrong with mutts, I have one and I love him more than anything, im just saying wtf is it with these people advertising "crossbreeds" with papers and for 500 bucks, more than some decent pure breeds? ***EDIT lol, I know that the lasy is a lieing greedy BYB, I know the differenece between a mutt and pure breed and I have no problems with mutts. I just thought the lovely dog community on YA would get a kick out of this ignorant lady trying to charge 500 freaking dollars for a mutt. Im not looking to buy another dog just looking at puppies on kijiji for fun and see how cute they are. I cant even look on there anymore all the BYB and freaking designer dogs make me want to barf! However, I didnt know there was canadian kennel clud which is reputable and a conKC which is horse crap. Thanks for letting me know =) I think I will try and register some stuffed animals on there and advertise them for 500 dollars...LOL
Which cross breed puppy should I choose? I am going to have a look at a cavalier king charles spaniel x cairn terrier and a yorkshire terrier x poodle. I've looked at shelters etc (why buy a dog when there are some requiring homes) however if they have a puppy they say no children under 4 (children may hurt puppy) and if they have an older dog they say no children under 8 (dog may hurt children). I have a 2 1/2 year old and two other young school age children, so that is out. Any suggestions???
Is it wrong to cross breed dogs for a specific purpose when all the puppies are already spoken for? Me and my buddies hunt nuisance hogs here in Texas and cross breed hounds and bulldogs for hunting the hogs and someone said it was wrong. But every puppy we get from it are always spoken for and end up in good homes where they are treated well. Whats so wrong with that? We arent using random dogs, we use male pit's with a female catahoula and a female black mouth cur. And im not a big fan of the blue lacy. The ones I have come across have been nervous. Every dog we have gotten from this is a better hunter than its pure bred parents.
How to find a "reputable" breeder of cross breeds? I know there is a lot of concern about puppy mills and backyard breeding and things of that such. I read a site that said a "reputable" breeder will usually not post classified ads. I found a dog in a classified ad online that I am considering adopting, I am just worried about supporting a "bad practice." The owner seems friendly and knows what she is talking about. However, she seems to breed as a hobby in addition to being a stay at home mom. Is this bad? It's hard to find a reputable breeder or cross breeds. Any feelings or suggestions about this? Please, don't criticize me for wanting a cross breed or for not adopting from a shelter. We look at the shelters often but want to make sure we adopt the right type of dog for us.
Is anybody selling an australian shepherd/sheltie cross? I am looking for an australian shepherd/sheltie (shetland sheepdog) cross puppies for sale because we own one and would like for her to have the exact same breeds because she doesn't really get along good with other dogs not like her. So if you have one please somehow give us a picture, email, and possibly phone number.
How much would you buy or sale a cross breed puppy, if it included? Shots and Puppy Kit? How much is 70-90 in American money? What happens if it were an accident litter and the money used was to spay or neuter the parents. Also the breeder required that all pups get spayed/nuetered? Well, my dog accidently got pregnant. I was planning of having her fixed after Thanksgiving and I had the neighbors watch her and their dog which I thought was neutered got her pregnant. After she has this litter I am taking her to the vet to have her spayed. I am going to have all the puppy owners pay $150-$250 for shots/spaying and neutering of puppies.
Puppy cross breed qestion? Ok my puppy is a cross from a Labrador to a Irish wolf hound. It looks like a Labrador more than a wolf hold. Im thinking, how would this change the puppy. Behaviour and appearance. Thanks for all answers. Everyone is welcome to answer this

Cross or mixed breed?!? Now i know a lot of poeple have strong opinions about this subject and will just reply - its a mutt/mongrel, but i genuinely need an answer. For the sake of a pet insurance application it is asking me to select either: pure, mixed or cross breed. My puppy has a purebred GSD sire and a GSDxNewfoundland dam, now is he cross breed ( as in only has two breeds in him) or mixed breed? Thanks for you help in advance (to those who will not have a rant about him being a mutt!!!)
So your purebred dog has got loose and another breed type of dog has? got her pregnant. To your horror she gives birth to cross breed puppies. You are a breeder and cannot tolerate this do you: a) Get rid of the puppies so that the pedigree is not weakened. ( you know what I mean) b) Sell the puppies and don't tell anyone c) Realise that all life is precious and sell the puppies with pride. If you answer C then I suggest you realise that life is more precious than breed and we can all agree that cross breeding is not as wrong as destroying life itself. Let's face it unless you answer A (killing the puppies) you agree that cross breeds have there place in this world. Breeders want to get all righteous but mutts are just as cool. Or are you killers of puppies?
Inside of a 'breeders' mind. What do you think of this email that I received from a 'breeder' who breeds mutts? A few days ago, I asked a question concerning a breeder who breeds, and sells Mutts (Goldendoodles, comfort retrievers, etc...) for about $1,500. I emailed her, and was polite. I just asked why her prices were so high, when I could easily buy a purebred, or adopt from a shelter for much less. Of course, this person is Not a Repuatble breeder. No reputable breeder, would breed mutts. Am I right? Well, This is the email, I recieved from her: Our puppies come with a two year health guarantee for genetic defects, and breeder support for the life of the dog.You will not get this at a shelter at all. You take your dog/puppy home and that is it. Your shelter will give no help or support if/when your puppy/dog has behavioral problems or genetic defects that show up later. A cross-breed (not just a mixed breed) is bred for specific traits, and ours are bred using only the best quality adult/parent dogs, for temperament, sound health, specific sizes, specific coat types and high intelligence. You can get a mixed breed at the shelter but it was likely an accidental breeding (and you won't know exactly what's in the dog's background as far as what breeds it's comprised of, and you won't know what to expect for temperament or health... etc.). A crossbreed is bred to produce specific traits and qualities in the puppy. We provide the registration papers for the parent dogs and results of any genetic tests or exams that were done on the parent dogs for hip dysplasia, or genetic faults commonly found in that breed. If all you want is a mixed breed of unknown origin, then you can certainly find that at your shelter. You will not have any idea usually of what breeds are in the mixed breed puppy. There are issues such as temperament that can cause problems later on that are very expensive to "undo" with a trainer. Genetic faults that come up later on in the dog's life can be really expensive, like heart, retina, hip/joint problems......... so your cheap shelter dog could end up being very expensive. Or, it might not have any problems at all. You never know! But if you do have trouble, one thing is that the shelter will be no help at all - no guarantee, no support. Whereas a puppy that is a deliberate crossbreeding was done so for specific reasons, to produce a specific result. This is quite different from an accidental MIXED BREED puppy. The purebred dogs often have very serious genetic faults that are a result of poor breeding practices. This is one reason that the crossbreeds are popular - see our website on the Goldendoodle page where the "hybrid vigor" theory is explained. There are good breeders of purebreds and crossbreeds, and there are "poor quality" breeders of purebreds and crossbreeds. How do you feel about that email? Honestly, I felt like she isn't an animal lover. SOunds like she is just putting animals from shelters down. Saying they aren't good. Though, she is the one breeding mutts. I just felt really upset by this email. So, my legit question is, how do you feel about what she wrote? Like I said, she breeds 'designer' dogs, and then sells them for $1500 or more. Don't worry, I am definetly NOT buying from her! I would never buy a mutt from a 'breeder.' But, I am glad to see people feel the same as I. Thanks for all the great answers so far!
What Happens To These New Mixed Breed Puppies That Are Intentionally Breed To? Hello all, Another curiosity question. I saw a program on mixed breed dogs and how people are breeding them intentionally, not as a accident. Program said to get the best out of both breeds into one dog. What happens to the pups that do not have the best of both dogs? Do the breeders put these pups down themselves or take them to a pound to make others do it for them or? The wolf cross pup who was dumped at our house still is in it's forever home I found for it. Still doing very well! woo hoo!
If cross breeds are healthier why breed pure breeds? If cross bred animals are healthier, why breed pure breeds, the majority are not used for the job they were bred for(im think dogs, horses). This is not me having a dig, I love all animals whether cross or pure breed. Is it not really like what hitler was trying to do though with humans? When a friend of mine got a pure breed pup it later was not confirmationally correct to show, so she wanted a discount from the price she paid, the woman said she would not give her a discount but wanted to destroy the puppy and give her another one. You cannot really not compare that to the types of things hitler did, if a puppy is healthy other than having a cosmetic fault(and even then unless its a severe deformity that really hinders its life)to kill it is a little, you know. So what do you think the obsession is with humans, inbreeding animals to look the same and try to make them have a certain personality etc, despite the negative effects to health and also the morals of it. I KNOW its not exactly the same as humans, but for example, alot of breeders specifically choose animals to breed together, imagine that is like us picking two celebrities we think will have a cosmetically pleasing child, or breeding to singers together to produce a good singing child and keeping them separated from all the other potential mates so that they breed together. Scienctific studies show that animals including humans are attracted to GOOD GENETIC matches. Like I said this isnt a dig, just wanting opinions on why we breed purebred animals Jade i think you have misread the question, my question is why breed pure breed animals if cross breeds are healthier @ Jellybay - if things really are that bad it makes you wonder why it has not been banned, I mean with humans we know the risks of incest and so it is banned. I know that some purebreeds have a very wide gene pool but others especially at the beginning are interbred I hope somebody replies and sticks up for purebreeds as have not read anything with a valid reason for the FOR points Football sadly many people think like you, i belong to the race called the human race and i don't think we are superior to any other, thats called having an oversized ego and not mixing with many friendly people from different races
rottweiler cross alsation puppy would it be ok with kids and cats? Hi we have the chance to get a 7 week old puppy a rottweiler cross alsation obviously it will be a large dog and need training but is there any more we should know like things to look for in the breed like hereditory issues when looking at the puppies any tips on picking a healthy dog would be appreciated or comments on the breed and how well they would mix in a family home with cats thankyou
does a pure breed belgian malinois, is the same as the cross breed malinois? my friend has a belgian malinois cross breed and he wanted to know if his cross breed can be intelligent as the pure one. i have also a belgian malinois but i do not know if my dog is a pure breed or cross. my dog has black mask on his face, an erect ears, mahogany brown in color and his nail color is black. the seller told me that my dog is half breed but as i browse the photos in the internet. my puppy really resembles the pure one. i do not know the distinct feature of a belgian malinois. that is why i seek help from the dog experts. thank you all.
question about cross breed dogs/designer breeds( schnoodle)? somewhere in Feb09 my parents want to get a new dog we alreayd have an irish setter and a clumber spaniel we want a standard poodle or a giant schnazuer my dad was a schnauzer breeder for 15 years so he knows everything about this breed so maybe a schnoodle( schnazuer x poodle mix) ive looked at some web sties online like puppyfind.com terrificpets.com and i found some "breeders" in my area but there is now way in hell we are gonna pay like 1000$ for a mutt i will be checking on petfinder.com and ASPCA my question is why people do that why they cross breeded those dogs and then sell them for go know how much money and do most of them come from a puppy mills or a backyard breeders??? no offense to anyone but for me its just stupid that people pay God knows how much for a designer breed like cockapoo yorki poo puggle etc... whne they can go to rescue shelter and save a life and pay a little less maybe about 300$ and that amount goes for a good rescource
What is a Westie and Yorkie cross like? We are getting a puppy in December when it is 8 weeks old and it is a cross between a west highland white terrier and a yorkshire terrier. does anyone have one and if so what are they like? and any tips on caring for this cross breed in particular?
Small, cross-bread puppy that does not shed? Family of two teenagers and rambunctious 3 year old. Want a small puppy, will stay in the house so prefferably wont shed hair (E.g Poodles) Want a puppy simular to toy poodle, perhaps a simular cross breed? Not a fan of yapping dogs. I know it really depends on the puppy, but it can not bite. We will be able to train the puppy to not do this, but it really does need to be small and child friendly for 3yo.
Does anyone know of any puppies for sale in London or Surrey? I'm looking for a puppy that's going to grow big, because I've got a 200ft garden and lots of time on my hands,I'm looking for a bullmastif, rotwiller, labrodor, staff, American bulldog, german sheperd, huskie or cross breed, preferably cheap, I've also got lots of experience with big dogs, and have owned dogs before.
Help please i dont want my puppy to turn into a menace!? Please can anyone offer some advice to me, my female jack russel / collie cross breed puppy, who's just about 5 months old, is getting to be problematic when out walking. When she sees someone in the street, be it either walking away or towards her she growls deeply, and the fur on her neck and back stands up. The closer they get she barks and if its someone i meet and want to talk to she wont stop barking. If someone want to pet het she growls more and has snapped at a couple of people now too. She's never actually bitten anyone or bore her teeth to them, she is just very intimidating towards anyone whilst out and about. It's getting to the point that i dont really want to meet people while i'm out and I avoid the issue. I really dont want to be in this prediciment and would like to know what i can do to help her (and me) I tried having my paner hold the lead today whilst out a walk, and she was great, she never even growled once. Yet..... the moment i took control she growled and barked at the first person we passed, then my partner took the lead again and she was quiet again....... what to do?
Is this normal for a puppy to do? I have a cross breed puppy german shepherd cross lab who is around 12 weeks and a young cat 8-10 months but the puppy always fights with the young cat i don't know if the puppy is just playing but the cat does fight back they are both males i don't know if they are playing because sometimes they will rest there heads on each other when they are sleeping but the cat does sometimes tease him
Can anyone tell me what breed my puppies are? We were told that our puppies are shepherd crosses. They came from the same litter yet, they dont look alike except for their color. We dont know what they are cross with but as I search the internet, one of them looks like a beagle/shepherd while the other looks like colli/shepherd. Has anyone have a dog that look identical to our puppies? They are 21lbs each at 12 weeks. http://photos.friendster.com/photos/36/51/8781563/117542875l.jpg
can my puppy and kitten cross breed and make kuppies? id really like a half kitten half puppy. is this possible and if so is it safe? and HawkGuy..do you really think i could make offspring with a chimp?!? that would be amazing! and seriously IM NOT JOKING. i want my two favorite animals to be one. like a calico and a chihuahua...a "calihuahua"..
Don't people realise that it is the breeder and not the breed that produce healthy puppies? I don't understand the knee jerk reaction of loads of people on this site and i am hoping that someone can explain it. There are many many breeders of purebred dogs that produce puppies of inferior quality. There are also many cases where conforming to breed standards actually result in very poorly and deformed animals. German Shepherds with sloped backs, King Charles with skulls too small for their brain - the list is endless. Then you might have a breeder who has two different breeds, both health clear and then produces puppies from them and because they are cross-breeds they are poor quality animals by default? Or someone with two healthy mutts with great tempermants, vet checked clear for any illness and produces mutt puppies and they are also unworthy of life? Only doing your research about the breeder will indicate whether the puppy is decent of not and how third parties can critise or praise others without knowing the breeder they used is pretty dumb. How are people so short sighted?
Breeding same cross breed with cross breed? Help advice needed? I have a collie - german shepherd cross dog and would like to breed him with a same cross bitch. Can anyone offer me any advise on this? I realise that I would need to get him tested, he is just such a great dog that seems to have inherited the best of both his parents' breeds that I would like some of his puppies. This is an idea that I am mulling over and I would appreciate any advice, knowledge and wisdom from those with experience so that I can decide whether to research the idea further or abandon the pipedream altogether....
Is there a way to determine the exact breeds in a cross breed dog? I bought a puppy about a month ago, she is 4 1/2 months and I didn't buy her directly from the breeder. Instead I rescued her from people that weren't treating her properly. I bought her as a Bulldog X Old Tyme bulldog. However a very reputable breeder said she looks like she has other breeds in her and lots of people ask if she's got any Boxer in her. Is there any way I can test what exact breeds are in her? I haven't got any details of her parents as I didn't buy her direct from a breeder. So I guess its my own fault! Having said that she wasn't being cared for properly so I feel like I saved her! Just wish I could know for definate what breeds she is! I will post a picture of her later on and we can all play the guessing game!! Hopefully we can shed some light that way!
Are cross-bred dogs more likely to have an aggressive nature? I am planning to get a new puppy and am currently trying to decide on a breed. I want a medium to large dog but as I have a young (9 month old) daughter I want to know she will be safe. I have heard that pure bred dogs are less likely to be naturally aggressive. Are cross-bred dogs safe?
why is it so wrong to cross breed I have a beautiful little chihuaha x jrt who is a happy sociable little dog? I have read some comments on here saying cross breeders are only in it for the money. What about pedigree breeders they charge an extortionate price for puppies maybe if they lowered their silly prices people would not turn to cross breeders as I did. the lady I purchased my little dog from was extremely responsible the puppies were healthy and well cared for and wormed and vet visited she was more than happy for me to visit as many times as i wanted. Not all cross breeders are money hungry monsters and they provide a valuable service to people who do not wish to line the pockets of pure bred puppy breeders.
Why Do People Charge Too Much For Randomly Bred Puppies? As a child, I can remember (and I'm only 27), people giving away puppies for free, or passing them onto friends of friends or family etc. Nowadays, it seems all the back yard breeders, i.e, anyone who owns an unneutered dog and bitch and decides to let them breed, are charging small fortunes for their puppies, when most of them are actually riddled with fleas and worms and haven't had the best start in life! I'm all for paying the going rate for KC registered puppies who were the result of a planned mating, by responsible and experienced breeders - but to pay over the odds to line someone's pocket because they think they can make a profit out of random breeding, is a disgrace! There should be laws against it. I've just seen an add in the paper charging £350 for a cross breed!! Not really a question as such, but will be interested to hear your views.
pure bred of cross puppy? my american bulldog is 18 weeks old and im just curious about him looking like a full american bulldog the breeder i got him from said he was johnson line hines from pics ive seen from other dogs my puppys nose look longer whats ur opinion ? hes 18 weeks and 42lb has HUGE pawshttp://s673.photobucket.com/albums/vv92/sammydeea/?action=view¤t=IMG_0300.jpg and a moody version! http://s673.photobucket.com/albums/vv92/sammydeea/?action=view¤t=IMG_0306.jpg
What do you think of Solid Gold Wolf Cub dog food? We are getting a 14 week old lab/shepard cross puppy and I would like to feed her something other than the cheap food they have been feeding her. I have done a lot of research online and found Solid Gold Wolf Cub Large Breed puppy food. It seems to be pretty good (no Wheat, corn, by-products). I would like to know if anyone else with a large breed dog has tried it before.
Why does my labrador keep biting my older dog on the neck? I have a 15 week old labrador, and a 14 year old cross breed, and the puppy keeps biting the older dog on the neck and pulling the skin there. He keeps jumping on him aswell, and the poor older dog has to put up with it because no matter how many times we pull the puppy off and say NO!, he just keeps on doing it!
is it possible to have a labrador with a coat color have puppies of different color? like imagine you have two black labs is it possible to ahve a chocolate or yellow colored one and so on and if you cross breed different colors likewise what would happen Extra Question What is the big difference between a golden and labrador retriever and is there some sort of mix breed between them and what are the major way of distuinguishing a lab having a color similar to a golden retriever
Where do you get Chocolate pug puppies? As far as we know from the parents owners they are just pugs and not cross bred. They look black but when they are in the light the chocolate color really stands out. We live in Cleveland, Georgia. My daughter is asking $300 for them but she left them behind and went back up north. cas46per@yahoo
Can anyone make a suggestion as to what cross breed my dog is? I found this little girl at what you would consider a puppymill. I had to bring her home and she is an absolutely wonderful puppy. Very obedient already and a really quick learner. The place that I got her from said she was a mix between a mini aussie shepard and he didn't know what else. I am just curious if anyone may have an idea. Her first vet visit isn't until the beginning of next month. Thanks for any help guys! Here is are pictures of her: http://www.unitedstatesfca.com/jennyspics/index.htm
What is this puppy breed? Hi, i saw this ad posted twice in Singapore. The 1st time , it was posted as cross breed puppy. But the 2nd time, it was posted as Belgian Malinois puppy for sale. I know that breed and don't mind getting it but what if it turns out to be a cross breed puppy? Help. the link to the ad and pic is here. http://singapore.locanto.sg/ID_101426563/Belgian-Malinois-for-sale-at-350.html If it is a Belgian Malinois , would it be hard to take care? And are they fierce? i think its a mixed breed beacuse Belgian Malinois are rare in Singapore
What is the breed/cross of this puppy? This picture is of my puppy when she was 2 months old. Now she is five months and weighs about 30 pounds. She was adopted from the local shelter. http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/771/cali3ko6.jpg I was told she was a cane corso/boxer mix, but she's simply too small for a cane corso. The boxer part sounds right...... She's shorter than most other boxers her age that I've seen at the dog park. And she seems to be bulkier than them.... Also her muzzle is quite elongated - it's not flat at all like most bulldogs have it.
House training Puppy? I have a male cross-bred puppy, I got him from a rescue centre (so he is not really house trained). My problem is that I let him out at night (until he barks to come back in). There is always pee on the floor in the morning (we have newspaper all over the kitchen). He is left sometimes during the day but never makes a mess (we usually walk him in the woods first - is this why?). Any training trips please?

What breeds do you think my puppies are? Hello, I was hoping that you could please help me in identifying which breeds of dog my two puppies are. They both just turned one in June and both weigh around 50 lbs. I bought them from a pet store, this was, unfortunately, before I had ever heard of Puppy Mills (not that I wouldn't have gotten my dogs, they are both very well behaved and in excellent health) so i had thought that a responsible breeder had sold them to the store (I was only barely 12). The people working at the pet store had said that Lily was a Lab/German Shepherd cross and that Sophie was a Lab/Boxer cross. (You will find out which dog is which on the site) If you would, I would appreciate it if you could give me an idea on what you think my dogs are. http://www.xanga.com/lily_and_sophie Thank you and I hope you can help me!
Is anyone else peeved...........? with the amount of adverts for cross breed puppies like Pug-zus, Dorgis, Cavapoos, Schnoodles, Shnugs, Goldendoodles, Pug-a-poos, and the like, all with expensive price tags? I was in a dog park a few weeks ago with my two Bull Mastiffs, and saw the most hideous dog, being walked in a stroller. I had to ask the woman what type f dog it was, which she replied it was a Yorkie Pin, a cross of a Yorkshire Terrier and a Miniature Pinscher, for which she paid upwards of a $1000 for!!!! I cannot believe people will place such a price tag on a MUTT, when there are hundreds at local shelters everywhere. Why not adopt and just give it a fancy designer name?
What breed should our new puppies be considered? We have a female German Spitz (Klein) and a male Mini American Eskimo, and they had puppies! They are so cute but we are not sure what to call them, I have spent hours searching the web for anyone who has ever cross bred the two breeds and I have had no luck. Although I did find a little history (compliments of dogbreederinfocenter.com): The German Spitz were eventually brought to America, where the name changed to American Eskimo Dog, due to the widespread anti-German feelings during World War I. Today they are known as separate breeds but are still closely related to the German Spitz. So what do we call these little cutie pies??
My 1 year old female Weimaraner cross is about to have puppies. What should I do? I am new to this! Help...??? First, my girl, Tammy, is 1 year old and (get ready for it) is a Weimaraner x Collie x Afghan Hound x Ridgeback and she mated (accindetally) with my 4 year old male, Trip, a (get ready for this one, too) Dalmatian x Boxer x Irish Wolfhound x Whippet! I know there are a lot of breeds and I know it was irresponsible to go to work while my female was on heat but I had the male outside in my shed and my female inside. I don't know how they got to each other but when I got home, the male was inside the house! Anyway, they successfully mated and my female is now pregant and has been for 8-9 weeks. I am not sure what I should do for her. I am pretty sure she has started labour but I don't know what to do. Do I butt in and help (if so, help in what way?) or do I leave her alone to do all the work (but take her to the vet if something goes wrong)? What should I have ready for the puppies? I saved up around $500 and arranged a planed c-section with my vet incase something goes wrong. What else should I do for mom? So far all I have is a nesting area, a whelping box (currently 3"4) with play area, litter area, feeding area and sleeping area, a few little toys, puppy formula and a few old towels and blankets. Will this be OK for puppies and mom for 8 to 9 weeks? Just to let you know, she is due to have 8 puppies so please don't give false information. A few questions: How old should pups be before first vet check? When do I swap pups over to soggy chow? How much do I sell them for? I am thinking $90 ea. to cover the expenses for worming, flea and tick prevention, health checks, etc. Any other information you can give a new doggy mom would be really good! Please no rude or offensive comments. I made a mistake and I did consider abortion but I am an animal lover and couldn't go through with it. I do have 3 homes for 3 pups but I will find more homes. If I can't, I will keep them. lexi m; don't worry. I have had Trip neutered (got neutered 5 weeks ago) and I am planning to spay Tammy once she is finished whelping her puppies. I am considering spaying and neutereing the puppies before they got to new homes but will talk about that with my vet.
Help with food for my large breed puppy? I have a Rhodesian Ridgeback, Rotwieler cross 6 month old puppy. The vets will only recommend Science Plan large breed puppy food but both a sheep dog trainer and the kennels think that 29% is too high for protein content. We've told the vet this and they are still convinced the food is the best dry food we can feed him. Who is correct?
puppy advice first time puppy owners of a Cavalier/Cocker Spaniel? We are getting our first puppy in the next couple weeks. Although we have not seen them, yet, we know we are getting a Cavalier King Charles/Cocker Spaniel mix. We hope to go see them soon and pick which one we want. Any puppy advice would be wonderful, but especially puppy advice on this specific cross breed. Also, should we take our Pomeranian with us? We don't have kids, but want to start a family soon, so should be take a couple kids along with us to see how they get along?
Cross Breed?? Is the Siberian husky and German shepherd a good cross? are the puppies to be considered good?still valuable?is it a good cross?
What is it with designer breeds? I don't get it.... why is it that a labradoodle puppy is being sold with a price tag of £1000 when the Labrador OR the poodle puppy wouldn't EVER fetch that much? Why have these "mongrels" and cross breeds been allowed to flourish and demand such high prices? I don't get it. Not long ago the labradoodle puppy would of been a mongrel puppy, a mixed breed and a mistake. They would of been giving the puppys away to a good home and no one would of thought of breeding from it. Why have all these cross breeds come along? Will there be no end to it? You could cross any two dogs and mix the name to come up with some new fangled "designer" breed. What's the point? Why do people want them?
Cross Breed Dogs? Good or bad?? I posted another question and someone has really put me off, saying that a cross breed gets all the bad traits of both breeds...is this true!? And why would that happen!? Mum and dad are both loving family pets, friendly and well trained - so why would their puppies be bad news, just because they happen to be cross breeds?! I had a pure bred German Shepherd dog before, I never ever want to replace him, so thought I'd go for a cross breed Shepherd, so I could still get the Shepherd traits, but in a different physical form (it's a Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross). I am paying a token for the dog to ensure I am serious, but I now feel put off, by someone saying there are no guarantees with cross breeds, so I should steer clear.
How can a pet store justify selling mixed breed puppies for so much money? There is an add in my local paper for a pet store selling multiple types of mixed breeds of dogs, some I didn't even know what they were, I had to call and ask. When I told her they sounded like mutts- the worker said "No, they're 'crosses'." How can pet stores justify charging hundreds for these "crosses? Below I've listed the puppies and prices that were in the ad: Shugs- $399 Maltenese- $499 Forkies- $399 Shihtza-Poo- $399 Mini Bull Dogs- $699 They have new arrivals coming in called Yorkie Chons too....
Why are people so ignorant when it comes to dog breeds? Everytime there is an item on the news about Pit Bulls, dog fighting, et al, the rescue centre has a fresh batch of Staffordshire Bull Terriers dumped on them. They had one dog brought back by a woman who got her dog from a rescue centre as a puppy. When it was 2 years old the vet said it looked like a Staffy cross. Did this woman look up the characteristics of Staffys and see how family orientated they are? Did she think 'we've had her for two years with no problems'? No, she promptly dumped the dog as it was 'dangerous'. If people do their homework before owning a dog (or commenting on Yahoo answers!), and find out a little more about them then these poor dogs wouldn't be turfed out of homes, not because the dog is in any way nasty or dangerous, but because of the ingnorance of the owner. I for one found out everything I could about my chosen breeds before making a decision as to whether it was the breed for me, why can't others do this and save dogs from the pound?
